Optimism and Gratitude!

Keep a Quiet Counsel, Be Positive and Put Children First were some of the key thoughts high on my agenda last week as the world of education struggled again to grapple with the myriad of mixed messages coming from all sides. What was helpful was to reflect back on many hugely positive messages from stakeholders that have been coming into school on a daily basis over the last few weeks – Christmas and New Year messages for the hard working staff at Bushey Meads. Here are just a few of them – I hope they bring optimism and hope for 2021 to your soul.

Dear Mr Turner, I just want to say that you are all amazing putting yourselves in the frontline, such a challenging time for the world and you all deserve a medal
Year 9 Parent
Dear Mr Turner, I just wanted to write a quick email to thank all the staff at Bushey meads for all that they have done this last term in these troubled, stressful and at most time confusing times you have all dealt with it brilliantly. I do hope you manage to get some sort of holiday over Christmas with all your new added pressures because you all very much deserve it. Merry Christmas and see you again in January. Best regards,
Year 8 Parent

Hello Mr Turner,
Our son is a Year 7 student and I wanted to get in touch to express how impressed we have been with staff at Bushey Meads over this exceptionally challenging term. The transition for Year 7 has been handled brilliantly, we are so impressed by the way the students have settled and how much they have been able to do within school whilst adhering to Covid restrictions. Our son is happy with a very positive attitude to learning (even in isolation at home!) which is a terrific reflection of the dedication of his teachers and the efforts made for home learning via Google classroom. Thank you for maintaining school life for the students, it’s more important now than ever that they have some stability and continue to learn alongside their peers. I’m aware you must all be under enormous pressure, please express our thanks to staff who have really gone above and beyond this year. I hope you all take the opportunity over the Christmas holidays to have a well-deserved break. Best wishes,

Year 7 Parents

Dear Mr Turner,
A warm Good Morning to you. Compliments of the season. I trust you and your family are doing great. We would like to say a Big WELL DONE to you and your team for all your hard work, resilience and never-giving-up attitude that you have shown in the face of these challenging and ever-changing seasons facing us all. You have kept the school running and implemented a well-thought Covid-secure procedure to keep our children safe.  We know it takes a lot of time and resources to do this, so THANK YOU to you and your team! As a family, we very much appreciate all you do. Wishing you and your family joyous celebrations. We hope you will find time to put your feet up, rest and enjoy with your family. God bless you immensely. Merry Christmas,
Love from the Parents of Students in Year 8, 10 and 12

Dear Ms Blowers,
Many thanks for all your help this year, and please could you pass on my thanks to Mr Turner for the amazing job he has done in keeping the school open. Wishing you and your family a lovely Christmas, and let’s hope that 2021 is a better year. Take care and thanks again to you and all at Bushey Meads.

Year 12 Parent

To all the Bushey Meads Team
I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all the staff for your tremendous hard work keeping all the students safe, and still able to learn either from home or in school during these unprecedented times. You have risen to every challenge that has been handed to you, going above and beyond for the school to continue to run as smoothly as possibly. I wish you all a well-deserved rested Christmas and a healthy 2021. Kindest regards,
Year 9 Parent

Dear Mr Turner
Please could you thank the staff for all their hard work, resilience and dedication during such a difficult term. Despite everything, my boys have enjoyed being in school and couldn’t wait to get back after their isolation periods. We wish you and all the staff a safe merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Kind regards,
Parent Governor

Dear Mr Turner
I hope that you are keeping well during these very difficult times. I just wanted to write to you to thank you and your staff for all that you are doing for the students at Bushey Meads. The actual point of this email is to thank the school for ensuring that there is work set and to thank Mrs Blowers in particular for being so responsive to the emails that I have been sending – one reply was sent at 2.00 pm on a Sunday, which shows how your staff go above and beyond. It’s just amazing to have that contact with the teachers and pastoral staff at a time when we are all trying to do the right thing and get through this awful time. I wish you and your family, and all the teachers and staff, a very merry Christmas and a safe and healthy 2021. Best wishes,
Year 8 Parent

Dear Mr Turner, I would like to take this opportunity to say Thank you very much to you and all the staff members for everything you have been doing to keep the school running and safe. Happy New Year to you and all the staff members. Kind Regards,
Parent of Year 9, 12 and 13 Students

Thank you for keeping us in the loop.  I do hope all staff had a proper rest as it seems as if this term will be as challenging as the last if not more so.  I hope you and all head teachers get clear guidance on this mass testing that is supposedly going ahead in schools. Good luck for the next year and anything we governors and trustees can do to support you all please let us know. Here’s to a year where the virus decreases and life becomes less stressful.
Chair of Governors

Dear Mr Turner and all staff, Governors and Trustees, I would like to wish all of you Good Luck for 2021 and the undoubted trials ahead. It seems inappropriate to say “Happy New Year” so I am trying to find a “new normal” version of that. We all have a large task ahead in working to overcome this deadly virus but it is vital work to keep us all safe and well and to promote the best possible outcomes for our children and young people. Keep up the good work! With very best wishes
BSJT Trustee

Thank you, Mr Turner. A difficult start to the New Year but I wish you and the staff all the very best for 2021! Keep safe and well and let’s hope we can get back to some sort of normal soon.
BSJT Member and Trustee
