Back to Dance!

The Dance Department are thrilled to welcome all our dancers back after the summer break. The department is already humming with energy, big ideas and serious enthusiasm as we launch into an exciting autumn term across all year groups.

Year 7 Curriculum Celebration Evening Our newest year group has hit the ground running! Year 7 students are hard at work rehearsing and choreographing their Mission Impossible inspired pieces for the upcoming Curriculum Celebration Evening on Thursday 22nd October. They are working on life skills such as teamwork, proble solving and building their confidence. For many, this will be their first performance at BMS and their dedication in lessons points toward a brilliant showcase.

GCSE & A-Level Choreography Released The national exam boards have officially released the choreography stimuli for our GCSE and A-Level Dance students. Dancers are already diving into research, experimenting with movement concepts and mapping out ideas for their practical exams. It is always an inspiring phase of the course as theoretical ideas begin transforming into original routines.

Live Performances & Upcoming Trips Seeing professional companies perform live is an essential part of dance education and we are currently planning this year’s trip itinerary. Watching live work gives our students invaluable creative insight and inspiration. We will keep you up to date with trips when they have been confirmed.

Lastly, we are holding our annual auditions for our Dance Company on Tuesday 22nd September after school in the main hall.

Being a part of the Dance Company is a fantastic opportunity for dedicated dancers looking to stretch their skills and perform at a higher level. Members of the company will rehearse weekly and go on to compete in the prestigious Great Big Dance Off competition, alongside taking part in performances throughout the year.

If you are passionate, hard-working and love to perform, we want to see you there! Check the posters around school for more information or ask your dance teachers: Mrs Bragoli, Miss Barker-Dunmill or Miss Saint.

See you there!
