Our textiles department recently received a high-tech upgrade, and we have a very special local inventor to thank!
We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to Philip Shad for his incredibly kind donation of a brand-new sewing machine to our school. This isn’t just any machine, however—Philip is the inventor of a wireless sewing machine pedal, a brilliant piece of engineering.
Why it matters
By removing the restriction of a physical cable, the wireless pedal offers our students a newfound sense of freedom and flexibility. Most importantly, this innovation makes sewing far more accessible. For students with restricted movement or those who find traditional setups cumbersome, Philip’s invention levels the playing field, making the art of textiles easier and more inclusive for everyone.
Student Feedback
Our students have already been putting the new machine to the test, and the reviews are glowing! “In a very busy textiles lesson, every bit of space and ease of use counts. It means that there is one more machine and allows students to make larger projects too!”
Thank you again, Philip, for your generosity and for inspiring our students with your local innovation!
