Our Year 13 Biology students have been taking a proactive and thoughtful approach to preparing for their synoptic Paper 3, particularly the challenging 25-mark essay.
Inspired by some examples on display in Biology Lab 4, students have been developing detailed concept maps to make meaningful links across topics and connecting ideas from different units such as photosynthesis, respiration, and ecosystems. This strategy is not only strengthening their subject knowledge, but also helping them think more holistically, which is essential for success in the extended essay component.
Beyond content mastery, this approach is fostering key skills we value highly: independence, resilience, and the confidence to tackle complex questions. It’s been fantastic to see students taking ownership of their revision and pushing themselves to think deeper.
We are incredibly proud of the effort and commitment shown, special recognition to Beyza, EmmaL, and Alma for their outstanding work and dedication, but also an acknowledgment of all the year 13 biology students.
Keep it up, Year 13, you are exactly the kind of resilient, reflective learners we strive to develop.
