GCSE Psychology

Providing students with an interesting journey through the why and how of human behaviour is GCSE Psychology. Psychology is understood as the scientific study of the mind and human behaviour meaning that the subject draws on mathematical and science knowledge combining this understanding with that of literacy. Offered at BMS as an option for KS4 this is a popular choice with our students. Indeed, Kyle Oliveira in year 11 said “Psychology is my favourite option”. The engaging course covers a range of topics including Psychological Problems, Sleep and Dreaming alongside Social Influence and classical approaches to psychology across time. Learning about human behaviour also helps our students to develop their communication skills and improve teamwork and leadership abilities as well as their knowledge. Whilst the option is helpful for those wishing to study Psychology at A-Level or beyond psychology is useful for any job that requires lots of interaction or an understanding of human behaviour and development from working in the police to being a lawyer or in the health sector. Through providing cross-curricular links with subjects such as CTech Sport psychology is compatible with all options on offer at BMS.
