Football reports
Year 7 v Croxley Danes (County Cup) HOME Mr Harris
Date : Wednesday 6th October 2021
Result : Won 1-0
Scorers : L. Browne
Squad : J. Hiett, Z. Zeb, R. Cooper, B. Neulander, S. Ardeleanu, L. Browne, L. Dimon, L. Avci, H. McManus, H. Neal, N. Walters, J. Cunningham, F. Fowler
Commended performances : L. Avci, J. Hiett, Z. Zeb, F. Fowler.
Comment : Wednesday evening saw Croxley Danes visit for a county cup fixture for the year 7 boys. Straight from kick off we were called into action, where their winger burst into the box and shot, forcing J. Hiett to make his first of many saves during this game. Soon after, we battled hard to win the ball off Croxley Danes in the midfield, where we looked up to play in F. Fowler for his first chance off the game 1 v 1 with the goalkeeper, which led to an excellent save by the Croxley Danes goalkeeper. We continued pressing, creating a number of chances in that first half, with S. Ardeleanu feeding a ball over the top to F. Fowler who forced the keeper into a fantastic save. In defence, we remained strong at the back and continued to work hard, not allowing Croxley Danes the opportunity to shoot and when they did shoot J. Hiett was equal to it. After the tough first half, we came in at half time at 0 – 0. At the start of the second half, we looked to build off the strong first half and created plenty of chances whilst continuing to defend well. We managed to earn ourselves a corner midway through the second half, which S. Ardeleanu put into the box, which was tapped over the line by L. Browne to make it 1 – 0 to Bushey Meads. Later in the half, we had to defend well as Croxley Danes created some chances of which J. Hiett was equal to every time. We came away at the end of the game 1 – 0 victors, with all of the team putting in an outstanding performance and progressing to the next round of the county cup.
Senior Boys v Grange Academy (District League) HOME Mr Cartledge
Date : Thursday 7th October 2021
Result : Lost 3-1
Scorers : H Mughal
Squad : A Sykes, H Plant, L Andrews, S Booth, P Kulasinghe, T Bates, C Lynch, H Mughal, A Kazmi, E Anthony, T Barnes, A Kothary, B Erbas, H Khan, F Rowe
Commended performances : A Sykes, S Booth, C Lynch
Comment : The Under 18 boys were very unlucky to lose a really well contested District League match between two very well matched teams. A goal from H Mughal broke the deadlock in the first half with very few chances created. The second half continued in much the same way with defences on top but some sustained pressure from the Grange team saw them equalise and then score 2 breakaway goals to clinch the win. It was played in excellent spirit and the boys can be proud of their efforts and look forward to the next few games with confidence.
Year 10 v Parmiters A (District League) AWAY Mr Symeou
Date : Thursday 7th October 2021
Result : Won 8-3
Scorers : D. Barbakadze (5), N. Bryan (2), K. Larkin.
Squad : C. Hughes, C. Sacikaran, A. Sacikaran, N. Mitchell, A. Clarke, D. Barbakadze, K. Larkin, L. Georgiou, J. Sims, C. Marriot, N. Bryan, F. Carpenter, B. Regan, H. Wafi.
Commended performances : D. Barbakadze
Comment : A solid performance from the year 10 boys. After a close first half, the boys were able to take control of the match in the second half. D. Barbakadze was a stand out performer with some outstanding finishing to complete some very good passing moves. Overall a good solid win for the boys which keeps them in the race for the premier division final.
Year 9 v Kings Langley (County Cup) AWAY Mr Burnell
Date : Monday 11th October 2021
Result : Won 5-2
Scorers : I. Harry-Brown, D. Ansa-Otu, G. Eldridge
Squad : K. Tinriover, C. Tegzes, A. Gates, G. Eldridge, O. Spencer, I. Harry-Brown, N. Morka, D. Ansa-Otu, S. Chadwick, M. McManus, H. Cooper, K. Ford, J. Harris, K. Gurney, S. Millberry, A. Fish.
Commended performances : I. Harry-Brown, D. Ansa-Otu, A. Gates, J. Harris.
Comment : Monday saw the year 9 team play their first round game in the County Cup against Kings Langley. The team started the game really strongly as they opened the scoring within the first couple of minutes. Their lead was doubled a few minutes later. As a result of the excellent start the performance level kept increasing, which resulted in plenty of very good chances being created. The team then cruised to a four goal lead thanks to some fantastic individual skill. Kings Langley got a goal back just before halftime. The team again responded by scoring another goal of their own to make it 5-1 at half time. The chances kept on coming all the way through the second half but unlike the first they were unable to finish them. Kings Langley then pulled another goal back late on in half to make it 5-2. This is how the game finished. Overall a very good performance from the team and into the next round.
Year 8 v Westfield (District League) AWAY Mr Cartledge
Date : Tuesday 12th October 2021
Result : Won 8-1
Scorers : R Christou-Totesaut 4, G Guainiere 3, E Ansu Otu
Squad : J Gladdy, A Muraj, G Guainiere, J Allan, L Fearnside, B Okeke, S Mowle, Z Bertie, Z Watson, R Christou-Totesaut, G Holdback, J Coady, E Ansu Otu, A Worth, D Mahmud
Commended performances : Whole team
Comment : The year 8 boys produced a fantastic team performance with a very convincing win over Westfield. Despite dominating possession in the first half the boys went into the interval only one goal in front. An outstanding second half display though with the all the team involved in some some excellent passing football saw the boys finish as comfortable winners. An excellent display from R Christou-Totesaut saw him score 4 goals in only his second game for the school. The boys are now top of the District League but still need to win the final 2 matches to guarantee a place in the League Final.
Year 7 v Westfield (District League) HOME Mr Harris
Date : Tuesday 12th October 2021
Result : Drew 1 – 1
Scorers : J. Cunningham
Squad : J. Hiett, Z. Zeb, R. Cooper, B. Neulander, S. Ardeleanu, L. Browne, L. Avci, H. McManus, H. Neal, N. Walters, J. Cunningham, F. Fowler
Commended performances : J. Cunningham, N. Walters
Comment : Tuesday evening saw Westfield visit BMS for the Year 7 boys. The first half of the game started slow, with Westfield having the opening chance of the game as they broke through our defence, a shot which was well stopped by J. Hiett. Following this we started to dominate the game with the high press, creating a number of chances throughout the first half, sadly however failing to convert the chances we created into goals. Later on in the first half Westfield squeezed a ball through the centre of our defence where the Westfield player calmly slotted the ball into the goal. In the second half, we continued our dominance in the game, creating chance after chance which eventually in the final minutes of the game ended up in a shot being slotted home by J. Cunningham. After a strong performance, we finally managed our persistence to pay off. The defence held firm throughout the game breaking down any attacks that Westfield came at us with. We can take confidence from this game and continue into our next game, hopefully coming away with a victory.
NETBALL RESULTS
Year 8 v Future Academies Watford (Home) Mrs Cartledge
Date : Wednesday 6th October 2021
Result : Won 16-3
Squad : S Doran, L Qarib, Z O’Brart, E Bird, M Bazile, V Hill, I Wijeranthna
Commended performances : S.Doran for excellent movement and shooting and M Bazile for superb interceptions in the defending circle.
Comment: This was another great performance by the year 8 team. With a few players unable to play the girls had to play without any reserves. During the first quarter all girls settled quickly into their positions and began to find space on the court. Great shooting by Scarlett and Violet gave us a 4-1 lead. In the second quarter the girls managed to increase their lead by some well timed interceptions down court by Lisa, Imashaa and Emilia.. At half time the lead increased to 10-1. A determined and strong defence in the circle by Zoe and Ma’Kayjah led to very few attempts at goal for the opposition. The girls displayed stamina ,determination and skillful play. Well done, a fantastic performance.
Year 9 v Reach Free (Home) Mrs Cooper
Date : Wednesday 6th October 2021
Result : Drew 3-3
Squad : S.Philips, E.Hauff, S.Mullings, C.Pullen, P.Pryra, N.Donald, K.Law, I.Payne, M.Cozens, L.Krikler, A.Chaudhry, S.Harris, E.Avci, E.Andrews,
Commended performances : N.Donald voted for by the opposition for her excellent intercepting and all-round athleticism.
Comment: In a low scoring game BMS were pulled back in the final seconds narrowly missing out on what would have been a deserved victory. Some fine passing play in the attacking third was well defended by Reach Free and great defensive work in our own end from N.Donald, P.Pryra and K.Law ensured the scoring was to a minimum. There was lots of enthusiasm from all the girls and with a big squad rotation it was lovely to see lots of girls having the opportunity to play competitive netball. A real pleasure after the past 18 months. The year 9 girls are so enthusiastic for netball with 20 girls regularly coming to practice – Great effort ladies.
Year 9 v Future Academies Watford (Home) Mrs Cooper
Date : Wednesday 6th October 2021
Result : Won 8-3
Squad : S.Philips, E.Hauff, S.Mullings, C.Pullen, P.Pryra, N.Donald, K.Law, I.Payne, M.Cozens, L.Krikler, A.Chaudhry, S.Harris, E.Avci, E.Andrews,
Commended performances : I.Payne voted for by the opposition for some fantastic shooting.
Comment: BMS dominated this game from the off, another squad rotation allowed new players to experience competitive netball and again they worked with effort and most importantly with big smiles! BMS took an early lead and some firne shooting and circle play from I.Payne, S.Phillips and M.Cozens put the pressure on the girls from FAW. The second half was closer but BMS managed to maintain their lead to secure the deserved victory.
All the girls showed great versatility in the matches, were supportive of each other and really embraced the values of ‘SportForAll’ and ‘ThisGirlCan’. Thanks also to the girls who turned up to support and help the team out.
