BOYS INTER HOUSE FUTSAL
To finish off a very busy term of sport the boys in Years 7 -10 have been competing in indoor futsal tournaments in the sports hall. Futsal is a fast indoor 5-a-side game with a smaller, low bounce ball with a focus on control and technique. It has been a very exciting few days with great turnouts and a great atmosphere.
YEAR 9 INDOOR FUTSAL
Date : Mon 13th December 2021
Winners : Ash
Squad : M, McManus, A. Gates, I. Harry-Brown, K. Gurney, N. Morka.
Comment : Monday saw year 9 play their inter-house football event for this year. There were representatives from each form and all games were played in a really good competitive spirit. The winning team was Ash who won in a final play off match as they level on points with Sycamore at the end of the tournament. Ash were deserved winners in the end, playing some excellent football throughout.
YEAR 8 INDOOR FUTSAL
Date : Tues 14th December 2021
Winners : 8BEECH
Squad : G Guainiere. J Allan, J Coady, K Fung, G Holdback
Comment : It was a great turnout from Year 8 with 35 boys turning out in the annual Inter House Futsal event. Ash House led the tournament right up to the last game when a draw with Maple meant Beech managed to just edge out the Ash team by one point. Well done to all those who took part and thanks to our PE Apprentice, Mr James who refereed all the games. There will be a futsal club starting after xmas.
YEAR 7 INDOOR FUTSAL
Date : Weds 15th December 2021
Winners : 7 ASH
Squad : J. Cunningham, H. McManus, S. Ardeleanu, L. Avci, S. McAndrews, H. Wills
Comment : Wednesday evening saw the Year 7s take part in a futsal tournament where all CDC groups entered a team. It was a tight tournament with all teams fiercely competing to be crowned the Futsal champions. There were strong performances from all teams, in the final round, Beech (the leaders at that point by 2 points) took on 2nd place Ash. There were no goals to separate the two teams until right at the death where Ash took a late lead and came out 1 – 0 victors, winning overall by 1 point. All teams involved today showed great character and respect throughout. Big thanks to Mr James who refereed all the matches! Well done to all involved.
YEAR 10 INDOOR FUTSAL
Date : Thurs 16th December 2021
Winners : MAPLE/SYCAMORE
Squad : H Wafi, B Fletcher-Gray, A Williams, F-R Hale, R Mushtaq, K Shahverdi-Moghadam
Comment : The final tournament of the week saw 4 teams entered. After the group matches which saw some very close matches the top 2 teams qualified for the Final with the other 2 playing off for 3rd and 4th place. In 3rd place play-off Ash and Willow couldn’t be separated after extra-time so both tied. The final saw a very close match between Oak and a combined Maple/Sycamore team which was eventually decided by the last kick of the match when Anthony W rifled ball into the back of the net to huge scenes of celebration. Well done to all those that took part !

FOOTBALL
Year 7 v Parmiters B (District League) AWAY Mr Harris
Date : Tuesday 14th December 2021
Result : Won: 8 – 0
Scorers : F. Fowler (x3), N. Walters (x3), J. Cunningham (x2).
Squad : E. Richards (GK), Z. Zeb, R. Cooper, B. Neulaender, S. Ardeleanu, H. Wills, K. Gibson, L. Avci, H. McManus, H. Neal, L. Bird, J. Cunningham, F. Fowler
Commended performances : All excellent
Comment : Our final game of the season saw us visit Parmiters school. We started the game quickly, carving out a number of chances, but a number of great saves from the Parmiters goalkeeper kept the game at 0 – 0. Soon after we managed to get the breakthrough when F. Fowler opened his account when he calmly slotted it past the goalkeeper. Soon after S. Ardeleanu put a free kick into the box which was not dealt with by Parmiters and F. Fowler got his second as he tapped it in. Later in the half, F. Fowler drilled across the inside of the box when he was fouled earning himself a penalty. On a hattrick he stepped up and placed it into the bottom corner, 3 – 0. Shortly before half term, B. Neulaender passed the ball all the way from centre back to play in N. Walters, who ran onto the ball and finished in the bottom corner. 4 – 0. Half time. The second half started and we changed our positions, we introduced a number of new players including H. Wills, K. Gibson and L. Bird. All of these players played in a number of positions and were adaptable when coming into the team. In the second half we continued our pressure, we created a number of chances, N. Walters somehow dribbled the ball into the net early in the second half, finishing it off with another cool finish later on. J. Cunningham was also playing as striker in the second half, he worked tirelessly throughout creating chances, dropping to receive the ball and play the killer pass to N. Walters a lot of the time. His unselfish behaviour finally paid off as he helped the ball into the net to make it 7 shortly before the end. Finally, J. Cunningham added another to his well deserved tally today, taking the score to 8 – 0. It was a quiet game for E. Richards in goal, but when called upon he was good with his distribution and managed to save the one shot he faced during the game. Finally, all those who played well today, we’ve had a fantastic first season together. Onwards to next year, basketball fixtures start soon.
NETBALL
Year 9 Team 1 v The Grange Academy (District League) Away Mrs Cooper
Date : Wednesday 8th December
Result : Won 7-2
Squad : A.Chaudhry, E.Hauff, S.Phillips, S.Mullings, E.Rogers, J.Verrey, N.Donald, P.Pryra
Commended performances : N.Donald voted for by the opposition
Comment : BMS dominated this local derby throughout, superior playing qualities as well as decision making and game awareness ensured this was an easy victory for the year 9 team. With E.Rogers, S.Mullings and J.Verrey dominant in the center court and the shooters A.Chaudhry, S.Phillips and E.Hauff having a high conversion rate the defensive team of N.Donald and P.Pryra were more of an attacking, than defensive, force bringing the ball up through the court. A well deserved victory.
Year 9 Team 2 v The Grange Academy (District League) Away Mrs Cooper
Date : Wednesday 8th December
Result : Won 8-1
Squad : M.Cozens, I.Payne, E.Andrews, E.Avici, K.Law, L.Krikler,, E.Williams, R.Savjani, C.Pullen
Commended performances : M.Cozens voted for by the opposition
Comment : Another impressive year 9 performance from team 2 who overwhelmed their opposition with some great passing and moving. Defensively E.Andrews, E.Avici and K.Law were strong and rarely troubled. L.Krikler, R.Savjani, E.Williams and C.Pullen were creating space and passing through the wings and center court and some fantastic shooting from I.Payne and M.Cozens ensured this was an overwhelming victory. Well done ladies.
To finish the night’s matches both teams played against their opposition’s other team in a friendly game.
Team 1 secured another victory with E.Hauff being awarded player of the match.
Team 2 were defeated in their second game and E.Avici was nominated player of the match.
This was a good evening of netball for the year 9 girls who have consistently turned out in force to train this term and their efforts are clearly showing in their performances. It’s a real pleasure working with them and we look forward to more success in the new year.
