Getting Ready to Learn
It was great to hear from Deputy Headteacher Ms de Groot at the start of this half term and be reminded in our Monday Magic Moment in Staff Briefing in the Main Hall of some of the basic expectations we have to support all students to be ready to learn in all lessons.
As parents you play a vital part in this – making sure that your child has a fully loaded pencil case and perfect full school uniform. Do make sure your child has a purple pen to be able to mark and correct work and also has a spare tie at home just in case. As teachers we want students to turn up to lessons on time and in the right frame of mind to engage quickly and promptly with the Do Now Activity to make for a purposeful start to the lesson. Coats need to be removed and bags put on the floor.
As parents and carers do remind your children that the blazer is compulsory and the jumper optional. As the warmer weather emerges this year, students should leave their jumpers at home or put them in their bags, if they get too hot and keep the blazer on when walking around the school site.
When students are ready to learn, attainment increases; we all want every student to achieve well at BMS so these reminders and your support are vital.
