The Year 11 Textiles students are coming to the end of their GCSE course. They have been been a lovely group to teach and I will miss them greatly next year!
I wanted to share some of the amazing work that they have completed for the practical element of their coursework.
A huge amount of creativity and hard work has gone into each product. The girls all created their own patterns from scratch, or modified existing commercial patterns, so each product is totally unique. Any patterned material that has been used has been digitally designed and printed by the students, and they have dyed the plain fabric themselves.
They have made a wide range of textiles products- there is so much variety because the students chose their own design briefs- from 3 options.
The options I gave them were; A modern vintage garment, a child’s item of clothing, or a home furnishing item inspired by world culture.
3 decided to make home furnishings inspired by cultures from around the world.
Alice made a cushion cover, inspired by Morrocan culture.
