Learning through Making and Playing Games

Year 10 GCSE History students have been making great progress recently in their study of the Norman Conquest. This has allowed time to explore the topic of rebellions against Norman rule through making games and quizzes. Students have been making board games, Top Trump cards and devising multiple-choice Kahoot quizzes.

Whilst there may be speedier ways of getting to know a topic, this makes a fun change of learning style which students very much enjoy and appreciate. Ethen said. “It gets people more involved- you’re learning whilst having fun”. Maria echoed this saying “It’s learning in a fun way- you want to make it good so it’s not boring”. Henna agreed commenting that it was “interesting” whilst Lily simply said “it’s good”.
