Outstanding Year 7 and 8!

It was great to see how well our Year 7 and Year 8 students rose to the challenge and first time experience of sitting an exam in GCSE style conditions for their core subjects, English, Maths and Science.

Whilst we know it would have been a daunting experience for many students and parents, it was really important to give students this experience, so year on year, they are more comfortable with the conditions and their confidence grows.
Students with access arrangements were looked after in a couple of separate classrooms, as they would for the real GCSE exams. These students experienced the additional support they are entitled to and this was especially important for the students using specialist reading and writing software for their exams. The more they experience these mediums of support, the greater the chances of success in future years with the same support.
We are super proud of how perfectly our Year 7 and 8 students conducted themselves in the sportshall exams and hope they are looking forward to receiving their marked papers back to see how well they have done.
If you are a Year 7 or 8 parent reading this article, please do praise your child for their hard work towards the exams and also for the positivity, resilience and maturity shown throughout the end of year exams. Of course, thank you to all of our Year 7 and 8 parents for the support you will have given your children at home in preparation for and during the exams. With a strong triangular partnership between school, parents and students, the students have the best chance to achieve their true potential.
