Comment : The boys produced an excellent display of passing football and were well deserved winners to move into second place in the District league. The boys dominated the first half but some poor finishing saw the team go into the break 1-0 down. However the boys stuck to the task well and continued to control the game before running out 4-1 winners.

Comment : Thursday saw the year 10 team play their final league game of the season against a strong Parmiters side. The team started slowly and conceded the first goal of the game. However, the team showed excellent resilience to not let their heads go down and quickly equalised. The match then swung back to Parmiters as they scored another well worked team goal. The team again showed excellent character to score again to bring the game back level at 2-2 and then to score 2 more quick goals to make it 4-2 just before half time. Furthermore just before the half time whistle blew Parmiters scored again to make it 4-3. The team started strongly in the second half creating a number of chances to score. However, against the run of play the Parmiters leveled the game at 4-4 with 15 minutes to go. The team applied a lot of pressure to the Parmiters defence but could not get that final breakthrough to regain the lead. But with only a couple of minutes left the team scored and made it 5-4. Another excellent win which left the team undefeated at the top of the league.
Year 8 Boys v St Michaels (District League) HOME Mr Harris
Date : Thursday 13th October 2022
Result : 0 – 0
Scorers : N/A
Squad : J. Hiett, Z. Zeb, R. Cooper, S. Ardeleanu, K. Gibson, L. Avci, S. Jabarkhail, H. Neal, J. Cunningham, L. Bird, H. Wills, N. Konopka, K. Banfield
Commended performances : N. Konopka
Comment : On Thursday evening, the year 8 football team had their first game in a few weeks as they faced St Michael’s. The cagey game started with very few chances with most of the game happening in the midfield area of the pitch. The students had to work incredibly hard to break down this strong, resolute At Michaels team. The first half had very few chances throughout and the students battled hard the whole way through the game whilst creating some chances of their own. Moving into the second half of the game we carried on pressing and working extremely hard as a team to win this game creating a few chances along the way. In the latter stages of the game the ball was pumped forward from the back as we looked to clinch a winner, the St Michael’s centre back couldn’t keep up with J. Cunningham as he rounded the keeper and shot towards the goal from an acute angle. The ball made its way towards the goal line when out of nowhere the St Michael’s defender made it back to make a last ditch clearance off of the goal. Agonisingly close in the last minute. The game finished 0 – 0 with both teams taking a point. The boys showed an excellent attitude throughout pushing St Michael’s all the way, just missing the final touch to secure the win. We carry this excellent moment into the next game.
Year 8 Boys v Parmiters A (District League) HOME Mr Harris
Date : Tuesday 18th October 2022
Result : Won 2 – 1
Scorers : H. Neal, H. Wills.
Squad : E. Richards, Z. Zeb, R. Cooper, S. Ardeleanu, K. Gibson, L. Avci, H. McManus, H. Neal, N. Walters, J. Cunningham, F. Fowler, L. Bird, H. Wills, N. Konopka.
Commended performances : E. Richards, N. Walters
Comment : Another week and another game for the Year 8 football team as fixtures are beginning to come thick and fast. Tuesday evening we saw the visit of Parmiters to BMS. We started the game quickly pressing Parmiters into making some mistakes and winning the ball high up the pitch. We created a few chances early on when we finally converted one as H. Neal tapped in a fumbled save by the Parmiters goalkeeper. Following this we continued to keep creating chances through our winger of H. Neal & N.Walters as they both were able to put strong deliveries into the box to cause the Parmiters defenders to have to make some excellent challenges. Our pressure continued and we were able to fashion some more chances throughout the half missing narrowly wide and narrowly over. We went into the break leading 1 – 0. Following the half time break we came out and pressed high and similar to the first half fashioned some more chances of our own causing havoc down then wings and putting crosses into the box.
Through this the defence held incredibly firm and limited Parmiters to only a handful of chances throughout the game. Soon into the second half we got ourselves a second as F. Fowler waltzed his way past the Parmiters full back and put a lovely cross into the box. The cross went straight across the 6 yard box and with his shins/knee H. Wills managed to put the ball into the bottom corner of the goal. Soon after the goal Parmiters won a corner and from the corner the ball was put back into the box after it was cleared where the Parmiters CB was quickest to react, breaking away from his marker and head home into an empty net as E. Richards tried to claim the ball. Following this, E. Richards made an outstanding save low down in the bottom corner which he pushed out for a corner ball. Some pressure from Parmiters late in the game caused us to have to be resolute in our defending in order to secure the win. After some strong defending, we managed to secure the victory 2 – 1 and have made a strong start to the new division. Excellent work all involved an excellent team effort and well done to all.
Year 7A Boys v Parmiters B (District League) AWAY Mr Burnell
Date : Tuesday 18th October
Result : Won 7-0
Scorers : J. Lewis, L. Khan, K. Johnson, B. Spencer.
Squad: J. Lewis, L. Khan, F. Blowers, A. Chaudhry, H. Trueman, R. Doran, B. Spencer, J. Wright, R. Hodgson, F. Hoy, K. Walker, K. Johnson.
Commended performances : J. Lewis, L. Khan, K. Johnson, B. Spencer, R. Doran, R. Hodgson.
Comment : Tuesday saw the year 7A team play their third league of the season game against Parmiters. At the start of the game it was a very even contest with both teams winning the ball back in midfield and then trying to counter. However midway through the first half the team took the lead and never looked back. They kept creating chances to score and if it wasn’t for some excellent goalkeeping they would have done. Just before halftime the team doubled their lead to make it 2-0. The second half started the same way as the first finished. The team played some excellent football and created a lot of chances to score. They ended up taking a number of these chances to make it 7-0. Another excellent performance all round well done to all.
Year 9 Boys v Parmiters B (District League) HOME Mr Cartledge
Date : Tuesday 18th October 2022
Result : Won 7-6
Scorers : G Guainiere 3, R Chistou-Totesaut, J Gladdy, Z Bertie, D Mahmud
Squad : J Gladdy (Capt), A Worth , Z Watson, D Mahmud, B Okeke, J Allan,
L Fearnside, G Guainiere, S Mowle, Z Bertie, E Ansu-Otu, K Fung, O Alao Commended performances : Whole team !
Comment : In one of the most exciting games played at Bushey Meads School for many years the Year 9 boys produced a fantastic comeback to win 7-6. Despite playing some excellent football in the first half the boys found themselves 5-1 down after some really good finishing from the Parmiters team. However the boys showed great spirit and commitment and brought the game back to 5-5 with some excellent goals. As the excitement built the BMS team continued to dominate and a fantastic finish from Denis M saw the boys take the lead. However with a minute to go Parmiters broke away to equalise. With time running out a fantastic individual goal from George G gave the boys a brilliant victory much to the celebration of the players and the crowd. It was great to see such a spirited effort from all the boys who were a credit to the school.
GIRLS FOOTBALL
U15 Girls v The Grange Academy (District League) Away Mr James
Date : Tuesday 18th October 2022
Result : 5-0 Loss
Squad : M. Cozens, L. Wheaton, N. Donald, S. Mulindwa, A. Chaudhry, A. Abraham, L. Dempster, A. Jackson, I. Diston, A. Lightfoot
Commended performances : Whole team !
Comment : The girls faced a strong Grange Academy side, which saw them dominate early doors. Grange found themselves 2-0 up within the first 15 minutes. However Bushey did start to string a few passes together leading to an attack which was saved by Grange’s goalkeeper. After this the girls grew in confidence and started to find their rhythm in the game. Unfortunately Grange found themselves 4-0 up by half time. Throughout the second half the girls showed their leadership qualities by defending as a unit with I.Diston making lots of saves during the game which kept the scoreline at 4-0. The girls passed the ball around nicely and created a further 3 opportunities in the game but were unable to convert with the Grange goalkeeper making some impressive stops in between the sticks. Unfortunately Grange did get their 5th and final goal of the game, but the girls didn’t drop their heads and continued to show spirit throughout the final moments of the game. Overall I was really impressed with all the girls’ performances and we look to build on this result and take what we’ve learnt from this experience and put it into our next training sessions.
U13 Girls v The Grange Academy (District League) Home Mr O’Kelly
Date : Tuesday 18th October 2022
Result : Draw 2-2
Scorers : A. Chance 2
Squad : L, Mullane, M Sharp, O. Issacs, A. Gates, J. Fearnside, A. Permeti, Z. Spanbok, R. Gagiskyte, Z. Chowdhury, A. Baliguat, A. Chance
Commended performances : A. Chance and A. Permeti
Comment : Playing their first game of the season against a team composed of many more Y8 girls than in our squad the team fought hard throughout the game. Taking an early lead, The Grange Academy had the better of efforts in the first half and by halftime were 2-0 ahead. The second half was a different story completely and dominated by BMS, with shot after shot sneaking past the post. When the goal finally came it was directly from a corner and this served to further raise the spirits of the team and then soon the equaliser was scored. Overall a fantastic performance and one that the girls probably should have won on chances created. All can be very proud of how hard they worked, never backing away from a challenge against a bigger opponent. Well done all and I am looking forward to our next game!
NETBALL
Year 7 Girls v St.Clement Danes (Friendly) Away Mrs Cooper
Date : Monday 17th October 2022
Result : Won 5-1
Squad : M.Huryta, A.Permeti, E.Yeboah, Y.Khan, S.Verrey,
Commended performances: M.Huryta (voted for by opposition)
Comment: A lovely game of netball where the girls showed great progress having listened to the feedback from their recent performances. Taking an early lead they never looked back and when they began to implement their passing tactics down court they demonstrated the potential they have and pulled further away from their opposition. This game was a pleasure to watch and the girls worked really hard to secure their victory. Well done.
Senior Girls v St.Clement Danes (Friendly) Away Mrs Cooper
Date : Monday 17th October 2022
Result : Drew 10-10
Squad :A.Deutrom, N.Donald, L.Wheaton, H.Imansoura, K.Kovarova, R.Wheeler, A.Ashar
Commended performances: A.Deutrom (voted for by opposition)
Comment: The first match for the year 11 team, supported by a few extras!, was a very close game where the lead changed hands frequently. Finishing the first quarter all even, the second quarter was dominated by the SCD team. A tied third quarter meant BMS were still trailing by 4 going into the final period. Some composed play in the center third and great movement in the shooting circle reduced the deficit before SCD took another two goal lead. A great turnover in the defensive end helped reduce this before BMS capitalised on their center pass to equalise on the final whistle. A great game with some fine performances.
Year 7 Girls v Queens (Friendly) HOME Mrs Cooper
Date : Wednesday 19th October 2022
Result : Lost 5-9
Squad : M.Huryta, A.Permeti, E.Yeboah, Y.Khan, S.Verrey, L.Fields, S.Alcendor, J.Isles, E.Wheaton
Commended performances: A.Permeti (voted for by the opposition)
Comment: Although not the result they wanted, the yr 7 team battled hard in this local derby. After conceding early the girls settled and were able to narrow the early deficit. Some good defensive play from Y.Khan coupled with fine passing from A.Permeti and accurate shooting from M.Huryta helped reduce the early deficit and ensure the team were always within reach of their opposition. A fantastic effort in the final two quarters ensured the score did not grow but it was Queens who took the victory. It’s been really pleasing to see the progress made by this core of girls and I’m sure there are many more successes to come.
Year 10 Girls v Queens (League) HOME Mrs Cooper
Date : Wednesday 19th October 2022
Result : Won 20-12
Squad : P.Pryra, N.Donald, S.Mullings, J.Verrey, E.Rogers, L.Krikler, M.Cousins, A.Chaudhry, E.Hauff, L.Wheaton, I Payne
Commended performances: E.Hauff (voted for by opposition – for a truly outstanding performance)
Comment: WOW! What a great performance by the year 10 squad, having never beaten their local rivals before they dominated from the onset and showed all their dedication to training is really reaching fruition. Fine passing and some really impressive attacking play from E.Hauff and M.Cousins ensured that the attempts at goal were plentiful and converted. At the defensive end P.Pryra, A.Chaudry, N.Donald and S.Mullings worked extremely hard to win turnover ball and feed the mid court players E.Rogers, J.Verrey and L.Krikler. With a 5 goal lead at the end of the first quarter BMS capitalised on this in the remaining quarters to ensure a well deserved victory. GREAT RESULT!.
Special mention must also go to the players who don’t always get court time but are a massive part of the squad and who regularly attend training – well done also: L.Wheaton, I.Payne, E.Avci, J.Levitan and R.Savjani.
