KS3 INTER-HOUSE CROSS-COUNTRY
Well done ELM House – Champions !!
This year’s Inter House Cross-Country races saw the event take place in excellent conditions with the rain keeping away for all races and in most cases the sun shining. The effort levels in nearly all cases were really high with students applying themselves really well to score points for their houses. After 6 races ELM House came out on top with a massive 1429 points beating ASH house into second place. For those who find the event difficult we continue to reinforce the healthy lifestyles message and remind students they should be doing 7 hours of physical activity a week to maintain a normal level of fitness. The top performers in each race are entered into the District Championships and we look forward to hearing how they got on next week.

FOOTBALL
Year 9 Boys v St Clement Danes (ESFA National Cup) AWAY Mr Harris
Date: Thursday 2nd November 2023
Result: Lost 6-4
Scorers: S. Ardeleanu, H. Neal (x2)
Squad: J. Hiett (GK), S. Ardeleanu, K. Gibson, L. Avci, H. Neal, R. Cooper, H. McManus, N. Walters, F. Fowler, L. Bird, H. Wills, N. Konopka, J. Cunningham, F. Mordecai
Commended performances: H. Neal, S. Ardeleanu, L. Avci.
Comment: The moment we kicked off was the moment storm ciaran arrived into town. On Thursday, we faced a strong St Clement Danes side in the National Cup. We started the game well and we were playing some nice football, passing it around on the astro turf well. After some consistent pressure from SCD we ended up conceding two avoidable goals. However, just before half time from the edge of the box S. Ardeleanu got his freekick up and over the wall to bring us in at half time behind 2 – 1. Moving into the second half and the game opened up as the wind and driving rain picked up. At times in the second half we got caught not paying attention and SCD scored 3 goals from the edge of the box in the same fashion. A frustrating moment for all as we had spoken about this at half time.We managed to get one back through an own goal. Furthermore, in the final ten minutes of the game, we got a sense of revival and we managed to pull two back through H. Neal. One was an excellent cross from the right hand side to the back post where H. Neal tapped it in. The next was a header by H. Neal just outside the 6-yard-box. An unfortunate end to our National Cup run this year, however a good effort against a very strong SCD side.
Year 9B Boys v Immanuel (Friendly) HOME Mr Harris
Date: Tuesday 31st October 2023
Result: Lost 7 – 0
Scorers:
Squad: E. Richards (GK), E. Hope (GK), W. Horton, Z. O’Hara, M. Donnelly, A. Nakazawa, D. Alter, R. Carbon-Felix, J. Lelliot, E. Hillary, C. Hackett-Goldsmith, B. Hughes, K. Chester-Canavan.
Commended performances:
Comment: A tough first game in their time at Bushey Meads, our Year 9s faced a game of two halves. One half which was against an extremely strong Immanuel team where we struggled to look after the ball and create chances. A second half where we were playing some better football and managed to create some good chances ourselves, getting the ball out from the back and taking it past people in the midfield. Just in the end losing out with our end product. An excellent experience for those involved and something that we look to build upon in future matches.
Year 10 Boys v Croxley Danes (District League) AWAY Mr Cartledge
Date : Monday 6th November 2023
Result : Lost 6-2
Scorers : R Christou-Totesaut, G Guainiere, M Wong, Z Bertie
Squad : J Gladdy (Capt), Z Watson, B Okeke, J Allan, M Wong, L Fearnside, A Worth, G Guainiere, S Mowle, Z Bertie, E Ansa Otu, R Christou Totesaut
Commended performances : M Wong
Comment : The boys put in a disappointing performance against their main rivals at the top of the league. Some early defensive errors and some poor finishing saw the boys trailing 4-0 at half time. The boys created a number of chances in the second half before finally losing 6-2.
Year 7B Boys v Immanuel (Friendly) HOME Mr James
Date : Wednesday 1st November 2023
Result : 1-0 Loss
Scorers :Not Applicable
Squad : O. Phillips (GK). E. Rumney (GK), A. Isles, T. Colby, D. Henry, J. Huryta, K. Frigot, J. Magkafourkis, B. Latham, O. Marini, D. Williams, Z. Barnes, C, Holt, R. Samin, Y. Mushtaq
Commended performances : O. Phillips (GK). E. Rumney (GK), D. Henry
Comment :The boys put in a good performance against a strong Immanuel side. We unfortunately struggled to find our feet in the game and we went a goal down halfway through the first half. BMS showed great resilience to try and get back into the game as we had a perfect opportunity from the penalty spot, but unfortunately it was saved by the Immanuel goalkeeper. We continued to create few opportunities but we were unfortunate to capitalise on them. We look forward to our next fixture and hope to improve on this performance.
Year 8A Boys v St Margarets (District League) HOME Mr Burnell
Date : Wednesday 1st November2023
Result : Won 10-0
Scorers : B. Spencer, K. Walker, J. Evans, F. Francos, S. Johnson.
Squad : J. Lewis, S. Johnson, A. Chaudhry, H. Trueman, R. Doran, B. Spencer, R. Hodgson, F. Hoy, K. Walker, F. Francos, J. Evans, R. Payne, F. Gee.
Commended performances: K. Walker, B. Spencer, H. Trueman, A. Chaudhry.
Comment : Wednesday saw the year 8 team play their penultimate league game against St Margarets. The team started the game very well and managed to score the opening goal within two minutes of the game starting. This was clearly a sign of things to come as the team managed to score 8 goals within a short space of time. The second half was very much the same however the team were set the challenge of completing a high percentage of passes before a goal was scored. An excellent game for the team and plenty of positives that can be taken into the next game.
Year 8B Boys v Immanuel (Friendly) HOME Mr James
Date : Monday 6th November 2023
Result : Won 8-1
Scorers : J. Wright (X3), K. Mistry (X3), E. Platt, A. Shinkwin
Squad :C.Smith (GK), E. Pinto, E. Godard, M.Jaji Khan, L. Douglas Grant, P. Soteriou, S. Johnson, J. Wright, E. Ebinca, K. Mistry, O. Harris, K. Gorcia, A. Shinkwin
Commended performances: Whole team
Comment : The first half was electric as BMS took a very controlling 3-0 lead inside the first 10 minutes in the game. BMS continued to dominate by scoring more goals and found themselves going into the half time break 7-0 up.The goals that were scored were certainly goals that the players should be proud of, as some good individual and team goals were produced to a high quality. As the second half approached we decided to take a more relaxed passing style approach, which did work as we did score another goal to make it 8-0. We were very unfortunate not to keep a clean sheet due to lack of concentration by our defence. However, a very pleasing result and we can look to build on this for the future.
NETBALL
Year 11 Girls v St.Clement Danes (League) Away Mrs Cooper
Date : Tuesday 31st October 2023
Result : Lost 16-10
Squad : A Chaudhry, E.Hauff, M.Cozens, E.Williams, E.Rogers, S.Mullings,N.Donald, P.Pryra,
Commended performances: N.Donald for an excellent display of defending with some great interceptions.
Comment: The year 11 squad suffered their first defeat to a well drilled SCD team. The BMS girls took an early lead in the game, settling well and converting their shots. In difficult conditions, for both teams, the SCD girls began to pull away in the second quarter before some fantastic defensive work saw the deficit pulled back to 1 goal going into the final quarter. With the light fading SCD upped their possession and were able to convert more opportunities to take a hard fought victory, with the score not reflective of the game. Well played ladies.
Year 9 Girls v St.Clement Danes (League) Away Mrs Cooper
Date : Tuesday 31st October 2023
Result : Won 14-7
Squad : A Gibson, A Belghiru, H Sookhoo, R Chudasma, E Mullings, M Rumney, N Edirisuriya, N Taghi
Commended performances: E Mullings for some positive passing and timely interceptions.
Comment: A dominant second half performance helped the BMS team secure a convincing victory in their latest league fixture. A slow first quarter saw both teams working hard to get accustomed to the slippery conditions and it was SCD who took a narrow lead. In the second quarter both teams settled down and began to play with more control and the score remained level going into the half time break. The final quarters saw BMS dominate the game and coupled with a higher conversion rate they pulled away to secure a deserved victory.
Year 7 Girls v Westfield (League) away Mrs Cartledge
Date : Wednesday 1st November 2023
Result : Won 4-1
Squad : R Grainger E Gillett M Andronicou Z
Dunlop E Hughes L Mysiak K Shah
Commended performances : K Shah for great defending in the circle.
Comment: This was a really improved performance by the girls with more confident passing and movement down the court. At half time the girls were drawing 1-1. In the third and fourth quarter the girls shooting improved and we began to extend the lead. All the girls worked hard to get free and as the game progressed became more confident in their passing. A great effort and a well deserved win.
Year 8 Girls v Westfield (League) Away Mrs Cartledge
Date : Wednesday 1st November
Result : Won 15-0
Squad : J.Isles, M.Hurtya, S.Verrey, A.Permeti, M.Faulkner, B.Barnard-Collins, E.Yeboah, Y.Khan,
Commended performances: M Huryta for great shooting.
Comment: The girls dominated this match from start to finish. With strong passing, good pressure in defending and the ability to create space on court the girls were difficult opponents to play against. The girls worked hard throughout the game and maintained their pressure on the Westfield players, Well done girls.
