There was a lot of excitement in Miss Farr’s Year 7 science lesson on Thursday morning as she carefully demonstrated how to safely light a bunsen burner and adjust the apparatus to create the two types of flame. Health and Safety was at the top of the agenda and it was lovely to see how engaged our youngest scientists were as they prepare for their exciting journey through the years in our inspiring science faculty.

In the next door laboratory our Year 13 Physics A Level students, being taught by Miss Booth, found the Year 7 atmosphere a catalyst to remembering their own ‘first steps’ in science at BMS; they should certainly be very proud of where they have all ended up – poised to study science at some of the top universities in the world!
