Theme of the Week: Resilience

It was great to sit in the Year 9 Assembly last week – one of several main school assemblies led by Mrs Hayward, our hard working Head of Economics and Business Studies, on the Theme of the Week Resilience.

In the assembly she covered some important issues that as many as 1 in 4 people potentially grapple with on a daily basis; issues of mental health, anxiety and depression.

Her key message was to acknowledge the issues but ensure that they don’t define who we are or what we can achieve and to make sure that we talk about them with others to help with whatever we are facing.

At Bushey Meads this can be with our experienced Connexions or Pastoral Teams.

As a school we want to help all our students develop great resilience and the capacity to recover quickly from any difficulties that will inevitably come our way it life. Remember – don’t let anxiety, stress and mental health define you and let’s all help each through both the good and the challenging times.

Thomas Edison was a example given in the assembly of where ‘every failed experiment was one step closer to success!’
