NEWS

The new term sees a change in activities in the PE Faculty with the summer sports of athletics, cricket, rounders, tennis and softball taking centre stage. Clubs will continue at lunchtimes and after school with lots of competitive sports events taking place this term. A reminder to all students and staff that information on sports clubs/fixtures and events can all be found in the following areas :

  • School desktop accessible to all students
  • School website under Calendar link (see weekly PE timetable which is updated every week)
  • BMS PE and Health Faculty Twitter page

The continued push to improve the health and fitness of the students remains a focus and all clubs are available to all students.

ATHLETICS

County League Athletics – Match 1

Date : Mon 29th April 2019

On Monday 29th April the school had the honour of hosting the first Hertfordshire County League athletics match of the season at a new venue of Hillingdon Athletics Stadium. The League consists of 6 fixtures against the other 25 schools in our region of the Herts County League. The first match saw the teams competing with Habs Boys and Girls, St Joan of Arc, and Bushey Academy schools. It was a tough first match but the students acquitted themselves very well with some excellent individual performances.. We had 4 individual winners on the evening with victories for Megan Worley in the Junior Girls 1500m, Dominic Richards Junior Boys 300m, Ronan Ismaili Junior Boys 1500m, Alfie Hiron Senior Boys high jump and max machen senior Boys Pole Vault. Well done to all those who took part and a special thank you from all the staff from other faculties who turned out to help officiate the event.

UNDER 20 DISTRICT ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS

The annual Watford District Athletics Championships for Y11,12 and 13 students was held at Woodside on Wednesday 1st May. We had 3 qualifying athletes and all managed to finish on the podium in their events. Yama Qarib was 2nd in the Shot, Kaitlyn Williams 2nd in the Discus and Chris Osei 3rd in the 100m. Well done all.
