BASKETBALL
Y9 Boys vSt Michaels (District League) AWAY Mr Burnell
Date : Thursday 24th March 2022
Result : Won 29-20
Squad : S. Milbury, S. Mosanenzadeh Fard, K. Ford, T. Sookhoo, G. Eldridge, M. Kabucho, C. Keough,J. Kijewski, H. Cooper.
Commended performances: S. Milbury, S. Mosanenzadeh Fard, M. Kabucho.
Comment: Thursday saw the year 9 Basketball team play their third game of the season against a good St Michael’s team. The first quarter started slowly as both teams missed some good opportunities to open the scoring. However, the team grew into the game halfway through the first quarter and took a good lead into the break. The team continued to dominate the game throughout the next two quarters, which gave them a comfortable lead after the third quarter had ended. St Michael’s started the last quarter strongly, producing some excellent baskets but the team defended well and were excellent in attack, which won us the game. Another excellent performance by all the players involved.
NETBALL
Y9 Girls v District Tournament HOME Mrs Cooper
Date : Wednesday 23rd February 2022
Result : Runners up
Squad : K.Law, P.Pryra, N.Donald, S.Mullings, E.Rogers,J.Verrey, E.Hauff, S.Phillips, M.Cozens
Commended performances : EVERYONE!
Comment: The year 9 girls put up a great fight to finish second in their district tournament. Starting slowly they were disappointed to lose a very close game to Reach Free in a game that’s scoreline did not reflect the possession. In the second game they raised their levels to dominate Immanuel College and secure a deserved victory. The highlight of the tournament for the BMS teams was a dominant victory over local rivals Grange Academy, before a loss to eventual winners Croxley Danes. The defensive trio of P.Pryra, K.Law and N.Donald worked hard to restrict their oppositions and recover possession. The mid court play from S.Mullings, E.Rogers and J.Verrey demonstrated some accomplished passing which aided the shooters E.Hauff, M.Cozens and S.Phillips.
Well played ladies, and all the other girls who have trained and worked hard in the year 9 netball squad this season.
Y10 Girls v St.Michael’s HOME Mrs Cartledge
Date : Wednesday 23rd February 2022
Result : W 9-8
Squad : A.Ashar, R.Wheeler, S.Hindocha, K.Kovarova, L.Slight, M.Bazile, A.Deutrom
Commended performances : K.Kovarova for great effort in finding space and for numerous interceptions.
Comment: This was a very commendable performance by the year 10 netball team . They all displayed determination and perseverance during the match. The passing down the court was strong and accurate and there were many interceptions which helped us gain possession of the ball. The girls were ahead by a few goals during the match and then in the last quarter St Michaels began to pull closer. However the girls fought hard and managed to maintain their lead. The St Michaels PE teacher commented that they all displayed great spirit and support for each other. Well done for A Deutrom and M. Bazile for stepping in and playing for the year 10 team. A fantastic effort by all players.
