On Thursday last week during Enrichment Day, Year 9 students had the opportunity to delve in subjects they have not yet been exposed to at KS3.
Experiences of a wide range of stimulating and engaging lessons will now enable Year 9 students to make important decisions regarding their choices at GCSE.
What is the marketing mix? This is a question Year 9 students needed to consider when planning a successful marketing campaign. Students were tasked with coming up with their own product or service, applying the marketing mix to their idea and presenting their idea to the class. We were very impressed with the wide range of original ideas!
Childcare focused on ‘What is development’ and the five areas this area is divided into. Students were able to complete a hands-on task developing their own play dough models. This allowed for students to engage with each other regarding the skills needed to develop their models and the impact this might have on children. Play dough models were completed to a high standard.
What is Economics? With headlines dominating the news about the cost of living, students engaged with materials about how decisions made by the government can impact on our daily lives. Students were able to leave the lesson knowing more about how our choices as consumers impact the UK economy.
Psychology allowed students to answer questions about how criminal behaviour might be caused/learned by studying Social Learning Theory.
What is Sociology? Through interacting with images, students created posters to identify what would constitute ‘The Perfect Society’ through a range of questions with some excellent illustrations.
We hope the experience students have gained from these lessons will allow them to make informed decisions about the journey at GCSE.
