Looking Forward
As June 15th gets closer, the day for the return for Year 12 students to school is fast approaching. Next week we will be welcoming back our Year 12 students for their face to face lessons with teachers. I am sure, like the staff, the students are just as impatient on their return. Careful planning has taken place to ensure that students are able to return safely.
Over the last two week the Sixth Form Team have been offering support to those most in need by opening up the Sixth Form Centre to students who were unable to work at home. These students have been fantastic role models for how students can attend school and maintain the physical distancing currently recommended. With the additional support they have accessed, I am sure that when they do return to lessons from Monday June 15th they will be raring to go.
Looking to the future, the Sixth Form are pleased to announce two upcoming Sixth Form activities. Firstly, our current Year 12 students are beginning to plan for their next step in education and the upcoming ‘Next Steps Event’, which is due to go live on the Bushey Meads website from June 17th, is designed to support both the students and the parents with their first forays into Higher Education and Apprenticeship options. In addition to this, I am pleased to announce an upcoming ‘First Lessons Event’ for next year’s Sixth Form. Building on our already very successful ‘First Lessons Day’, the event, now covering an entire week, will provide those students who have enrolled into the Sixth Form for next year a fantastic opportunity to experience the start of the ‘A’ level courses before the summer break. More details of the ‘First Lessons Event’ will follow in the coming days for those students and families.
I speak for the entire Sixth Form Team when I say that welcoming the students back into school is something we have wanted for several weeks and with the carefully considered planning that has taken place I am pleased that time it is almost here.
To replace the annual school Sports Day this half term we have launched a KS3 Inter House Sport and Fitness competition to inspire students to do as much exercise as possible...
