FOOTBALL
Year 8 Boys v St Clement Danes (District League) AWAY Mr Harris
Date : Wednesday 2nd November 2022
Result : Lost 2 – 1
Scorers : F. Fowler
Squad : J. Hiett, Z. Zeb, R. Cooper, S. Ardeleanu, K. Gibson, L. Avci, H. McManus, H. Neal, J. Cunningham, L. Bird, H. Wills, N. Konopka, N. Walters
Commended performances : N. Konopka, F. Fowler
Comment : On Wednesday afternoon we took a trip to St Clement Danes School to play against a strong SCD team. We kicked off in the first half and were instantly on the backfoot, we were under lots of pressure straight away from St Clement Danes and they tried to break down the left hand side through their very strong winger. During the first half we held off and managed to create some excellent chances of our own. We had phases of play where we passed the ball around the pitch extremely well, the boys worked incredibly hard. The boys continued to gain control in the first half where it finished 0 – 0 at half time. We came in at the break unhappy because we felt as if we were the better team throughout that first half, we were just unable to get a proper shot off on goal to challenge the goalkeeper.
Start the second half, SCD came out of the blocks fast as they did in the first half where they put us under pressure from the first whistle and almost scored instantly. After this we managed to compose ourselves some more and pass the ball around more, putting it over the top of the chasing F. Fowler who was able to create some chances for himself using his pace against some extremely strong SCD players. Midway through the second half we conceded a corner which was floated into the box and the SCD player had a free header into the goal.
After this we pulled our socks up and challenged again and continued to work extremely hard. A ball over the top and some excellent work from F. Fowler allowed him to create a chance which made its way into the net. A thoroughly deserved equaliser. From then on SCD were looking for a winner, they piled pressure on creating many chances of their own but some excellent saves from the defence and J. Hiett kept them at bay until near the end of the game where their relentless pressure ended up being too much for us. A long ball over the top and the winger playing a fine pass across the box to the oncoming attacker to slot home. The match finished SCD 2 – 1 BMS. An excellent game of football with two very strong teams, with SCD coming out as final winners. Onto our next game, we look to take our strong performances forward and continue competing in this top division.
Year 7A Boys v Reach Free (District League) HOME Mr Burnell
Date : Wednesday 2nd November 2022
Result : Lost 2-1
Scorers : R. Hodgson
Squad: J. Lewis, F. Blowers, A. Chaudhry, H. Trueman, R. Doran, B. Spencer, J. Wright, R. Hodgson, F. Hoy, K. Walker, K. Johnson.
Commended performances : A. Chaudhry, R. Hodgson.
Comment : Wednesday saw the year 7A team play a league game against a strong Reach Free side. The game started very evenly with both teams creating some chances to score. However, reach free took the first chance and went 1-0 up. This was how the score stayed in the first half. The team started the second half well and levelled the game. They were the better side from there on in creating some excellent chances to gain the lead. However, it was Reach Free who re-took the lead to make the game 2-1. This was how the game finished. Plenty of good aspects to take out of the game and a lot of things still to work on for the next game.
Year 9 Boys v Marlboro (County Cup) HOME Mr Cartledge
Date : Monday 9th November 2022
Result : Lost 3-1
Scorers : G Guainiere
Squad : J Gladdy (Capt), A Worth , Z Watson, D Mahmud, B Okeke, J Allan,
L Fearnside, G Guainiere, S Mowle, Z Bertie, E Ansu-Otu, K Fung
Commended performances : E Ansa Otu, D Mahmud, G Guainiere
Comment : In really difficult playing conditions the boys were really unlucky to lose a very closely contested County Cup match. After conceding two first half goals the boys controlled the second half for long periods playing some really good passing football. An excellent finish from G Guainiere brought the game close but the team could just not find an equaliser before Marlboro scored a late goal to clinch the win.
GIRLS FOOTBALL
U13 Girls v Reach Free (District League) Away Mr O’Kelly
Date : Wednesday 2nd November 2022
Result : Lost 3-1
Scorers : O. Issac
Squad : M. Sharp, O. Issac, A. Chance, J. Fearnside, Z. Spanbok, R. Gagiskyte, J. Frumusela, Z. Chowdhury, A. Baliguat, D. Benton
Commended performances : J. Frumusela
Comment : A great game to watch with lots of chances created by BMS in the first half, sadly we were unable to take these chances and this came back to haunt us in the second half. Leading 1-0 at halftime, the opposition made a few substitutions and this made a big difference to the game with them scoring 3 unanswered goals in the second half. Still a really great effort against a team who has won all their games this year. On to the next game and fingers crossed for a better result next time.
U15 Girls v Reach Free (District League) Away Mrs Cooper
Date : Wednesday 2nd November 2022
Result : Lost
Squad : I.Diston, L.Wheaton, M.Cozens, N.Donald, A.Chaudhry, L.Dempster, A.Lightfoot, A.Jackson, E.Musgrove
Commended performances : I.Diston (some fantastic saves) L.Wheaton and M.Cozens fantastic defensive work.
Comment : Although a heavy defeat this was a really spirited display from the U15 team who showed good improvements from their last performance. Up against a very strong RF team, with a number of club players, it was always going to be a tough game but the BMS girls showed from the start they were not going to be easily defeated and made a real game of it. Some fantastic defensive play and great goalkeeping ensured the deficit was respectable. Unfortunately the girls were unable to convert their attacking chances but the game finished (almost in the dark) with lots of smiles and laughter. Well played ladies.
HOUSE NETBALL
Next week (wb/14/11/22) sees the annual House Netball competitions get underway. ALL girls in yr 7-11 compete in their lessons in CDG’s against each of the other houses. Scores are then totalled between both halves of the year group to give the year group winners and then the overall house winners. The competition takes place over both PE lessons. Please remember to bring kit for outside lessons. Good luck everyone.
For full details of the clubs, fixtures and practices students and parents need to check on the Bushey Meads School website in the Calendar icon where you will find a full list of the extra-curricular activities. This is updated on a weekly basis to show the fixtures and practices for each week. In addition students can check the notice boards in the boys and girls changing rooms and in the main PE lobby. The PE and Health Faculty also have their own Twitter account which includes regular updates on fixtures, match reports and details of forthcoming events.
PE kit
It is essential that students have the full correct PE kit for all lessons. This includes shinpads and black /yellow socks when participating in football lessons and also a pair of white sports socks for all other activities. Students will be reminded when activities change. Students not bringing the correct kit will instantly receive consequence points.
Girls should be wearing plain black shorts which are longer than the length of their PE shirt or hoody. Leggings should be black sports leggings and not see through. Black tracksuit bottoms are also permitted.
ALL jewellery should be removed prior to the start of the lesson, including earrings, and hair should be tied up.
