George Michael Superfans Visit Bushey Meads!

Last Friday we welcomed a truly international cohort of visitors to Bushey Meads School, all of whom were extremely grateful to be able to spend time in our school where the late George Michael studied for his Sixth Form years and formed his world famous musical partnership with Andrew Ridgely, Wham! The group were made up of visitors from West Virginia, Colorado, Spain, Brussels, Germany, Austria and several more local areas across North London and were on a specially organised weekend.

They all really enjoyed their time at the school visiting key classrooms and performance spaces across our superb site. They also had the opportunity to take photos outside our state of the art Music Department under the Heritage Foundation Blue Plaque dedicated at Bushey Meads School at the major George Michael tribute event held here in April 2018.

Talented current BMS students entertained our guests with some superb musical performances, including a number of George Michael songs which were really appreciated by the visitors. It was a great event that once showcased the ongoing talent that exists in our school and serves to remind our current students that there is no limit to what can be achieved.

I would like to thank our talented Head of Music and Advanced Lead Teacher Mr Gray and all the students involved for making the visit such a success.

Earlier this week we received a lovely message of thanks indicating just how much the visit had been appreciated by the group of international visitors:

Dear Mr Turner,

On behalf of us all who visited your school last Friday – a massive “Thank you” for such an informative inspiring visit. Your students and your staff team are a credit to you all.

Once again, thank you!
Helen and Heidi
