As part of our Kindness Matters initiative, my friend and I have been helping out in a Year 7 art class with Mrs Hoskins. This experience has been both rewarding and enjoyable, as we get to support younger students while they develop their creativity.
During lessons, we assist students with their artwork, help them understand instructions, and encourage them to express their ideas with confidence. It’s great to see their progress and enthusiasm as they try new techniques and improve their skills.
This role has also helped me better understand younger students and how they learn. By working closely with Year 7s, I’ve learned to be more patient and to explain things in a clear and supportive way. It’s given me a new perspective on how important encouragement and guidance are, especially when students are still building their confidence.
Being involved in this program has shown us how small acts of Kindness—like offering help or encouragement—can make a big difference in someone’s learning experience. We’re proud to be part of a project that promotes positivity and support within our school community.
I look forward to the many more lessons I have with this enjoyable year 7 class, Thank you for taking your time to read this, Mathew Tregear, 12 Ash, Deputy Head Prefect.
