Our most prestigious BMS Senior Student Leaders for 2020-21 were appointed at the start of this week. It is with great pleasure, I announce the successful appointment of our Head and Deputy Head Students:
Head Boy: Jack Elson
Head Girl: Zuzanna Pawlaczyk
Head Prefect: Jenna Statham
Deputy Head Girl: Dhwani Patel
Deputy Head Girl: Nehal Pabari
The submitted applications highlighted what a strong field of candidates we had and each applicant inspired us with their answers and vision. The interview panel had the tough decision to select the final successful candidates and it was no easy feat. In fact, the panel saw such great strengths in many of the candidates, that, as well as appointing for the intended roles, several of the other candidates were offered other leadership roles!
Here’s a little bit more about our new Head Students:
Jack Elson
Jack has taken on many responsibilities during his time at Bushey Meads, such as being voted the CDG and House representative on three occasions throughout the years and regularly voiced his ideas in Student Parliament meetings. Last year, Jack was part of the prefect team and fulfilled all his duties in serving the school community. Jack has helped out at many school events, concerts and evenings and most recently represented the student body at a school improvement meeting in which ideas were being generated to take our school to the next level over the next three years.
Outside of school, Jack has become a young leader at his local Scout group, 29th Watford South, running activities and helping the Scouts work towards new badges and establishing practical life skills. Jack really enjoys helping in this way and feels proud that he is giving back to the community and sharing his knowledge with the younger generation.
One of the main areas Jack is really keen to work on, is supporting students with GCSE options and career related information.
Zuzanna Pawlaczyk
Over the last 6 years, Zuzanna says she has watched the school transform and she wants to be a part of the future improvement and to help people have a good experience whilst in Bushey Meads School. Zuzanna has taken on many student leadership roles such as, Student Learning Consultant, BMS Buddy, House Representative and Prefect and she feels they have all contributed in helping her become the very best version of herself she can be. Zuzanna is confident that she can handle all of her school work and still find an ample amount of time to do lots of work for the students and the school in her Head Girl role. She has given up lots of her own time already by supporting at parents evenings, open evenings and most recently at the ‘Generating Ideas To Embed Greatness’ event.
As Head Girl, one of the key ideas that Zuzanna would like to implement is First Aid Training to the older years firstly and then allowing them to teach the younger students so they would all benefit by learning such a key and important skill.
Zuzanna is planning to study Medicine at university, in which skills in communication, teamwork and organisation are essential and being Head Girl would be very beneficial in developing these skills even further.
