PE Lesson

It was excellent to join our year 8 students as they braved the frost for a COVID safe PE lesson. With staff having to overcome the additional challenges of sanitising footballs and single-use bibs maintaining a range of physical activities has been a learning curve for staff and students alike. Physical education is a compulsory part of the school curriculum and provides opportunities for students to participate in physical activity aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle. Although greatly scaled down at this time the year 8 students were able to engage in competitive team games and to take an active role through leadership roles. In this lesson two boys took charge of the group and led their peers in the warm-up; taking them for a run around the field and coaching them through a range of stretches. The respectful and positive atmosphere was unquestionable as the class adhered to our one voice policy and participated in the activities directed by their peers. The positive attitude and skills on show are a testament to the dedication of our PE staff for creating an inclusive ethos where all students not only participate in but also enjoy physical activity.
