FOOTBALL
Year 9A Boys v BEAUMONT (County Plate Semi-Final) AWAY Mr Cartledge
Date : Wednesday 4th March 2026
Result : Lost 5-2
Scorers : E Rumney 2
Squad : O Woodbrock (GK), O Phillips (Capt), J Magkafourakis, C Allan, G Jabarkhail, G Fogden, A Cohen, Z Butler, D Henry, R Samin, D Mason, M Rawlings, D Isles, E Rumney
Commended performances : E Rumney
Comment : The Year 9 boys excellent run in the County Plate competition finally ended in the Semi-Final with a 5-2 defeat to Beaumont. Missing key player N Gibson was always going to make this a difficult task. After a nervy first 10 minutes the boys controlled the game for 15 minutes with a fantastic goal by E Rumney giving the boys the lead. The boys had opportunities to extend the lead but then lapses of concentration saw 2 late first goals for the opposition. Two goals from corners early in the 2nd half gave the boys a difficult task and despite rallying late on with another well taken goal from E Rumney we were eventually defeated. It has been a great effort to get this far but we will look back on this as a missed opportunity.

BASKETBALL
Year 8 Boys v St Michaels (District League) AWAY Mr Harris
Date: Wednesday 25th February 2026
Result: Won 32 – 34
Scorers :
Squad: R. Gurney, M. T-Buck, N. Cunningham, B. Stanley, A. Lampton, S. Isles, K. Akaridgidi, D. Lissner, L. Soteriou, S. Berg
Commended performances : all
Comment : 1st basketball game of the year and it turned out to be a fantastic game. The boys came into it having had a member of fixtures postponed prior to half term but they got off through a great start early baskets securing their lead and being in control. As again progressed it remained close, defensively we struggled at times to keep St Michael’s out as we struggled with our rebounds. However, we managed to keep them out for the remainder of the game right up until the death where the score was tied 32 – 32 before A. Lampton turned one way and the other before sinking a nice jumpshot just outside the key. With about one minute left, he managed to keep them out for some resolute defending. An excellent performance for their first game, into the next game the other day.
Year 8 Boys v Westfield (District League) AWAY Mr Harris
Date: Thursday 26th February 2026
Result: Won
Scorers :
Squad: R. Gurney, M. T-Buck, N. Cunningham, B. Stanley, A. Lampton, S. Isles, K. Akaridgidi, D. Lissner, L. Soteriou, S. Berg
Commended performances : M. Thomas-Buck
Comment : Another day another basketball game for the Year 8s. I’m going into this game with high confidence after a solid performance yesterday we started getting really slowly and within about two minutes we were eight points down. However, as the game continued, we got more control in the game and back into it. M. Thomas-Buck working really hard in the game to create chances and get us back into the game. On defence we worked really hard to limit their most dominant player to a handful of chances. Moving into the second half we remained in control and the lead. M Thomas-Buck scored a buzzer beater at the end of the third in spectacular fashion. Finally in the last quarter we remained in control and managed keep Westfield out and secure an excellent win.
