A dramatic entrance to this week!  Year 13 students initiated Pre Public Exams of devised performances, showcasing an incredible range of creativity, collaboration and performance skill. Each group has been working hard to bring their original ideas to life. Focusing our attention to Seussical the musical, casts are already diving into character and choreography, setting the stage for what promises to be a vibrant and entertaining production later in the year!

Educate, empower and embrace in Black history month!

As September comes to a close, we mark the beginning of Black History Month. A time of recognition to honour black leaders, activists and communities who have deeply shaped our history. The month commemorates and calls awareness to the rich contributions and ongoing movements for equality and justice. Founder of BHM, Carter G. Woodson believed “What we need is not a history of selected races or nations, but the history of the world void of national bias, race hate, and religious prejudice”. A powerful message that still speaks volumes today, black excellence should be celebrated all year long.

In the assembly our Deputy head teacher elaborated on the black history by introducing the first black headteacher Yvonne Connolly who overcame various obstacles in the form of racial prejudice, not only from different races but only her very own. We applaud the bravery of such a great head teacher and hope that her legacy continues on.

Aspire to achieve a growth mindset

This week in PSHE, we explored the importance of resilience and developing a growth mindset. We learned that having a growth mindset means replacing “I can’t do it” with “I can’t do it yet,” reminding us that effort and persistence lead to improvement. Challenges aren’t failures but opportunities to learn, grow, and strengthen our determination. By staying positive and resilient, we can overcome obstacles, build confidence, and achieve more than we thought possible.
