Kindness Matters is a project for A-level students to help build confidence, initiative and growth. For one hour per a week for a year, a year 12 student will help assist the learning of a younger year by helping in a lesson of their choice. Kindness Matters is very important as we help younger students to achieve by assisting in their lessons. Also it develops our learning to build leadership skills and it’s great to put on our CV.
I have absolutely enjoyed my Kindness Matters class which is Art with year 9’s assisting Mrs Hoskins, the class are fantastic at what they do and full of many personalities. I help the lesson to go smoothly. This can be from helping a student with advice to collecting the right equipment for learning. It has been a pleasure doing kindness matters with my class and I feel as though I have been able to improve myself through using my initiative, confidence and leadership skills. For me the main difficulty I overcame was helping teach a class where I did not know any of the students but over time I got to know more about each individual student and build a positive relationship with them.
This is a comment from my Kindness Matter teacher, Mrs Hoskins and her thoughts on the project, “I really appreciate the students in year 12 helping out in my lessons. They are a great asset and help with setting up the resources as well as helping individuals and groups of students in the lessons. All my year 12 students have built excellent relationships with the classes they help out in and this is based on mutual respect and trust between them and the students.”
