Game Design Masterclass with Brunel...
This Tuesday we were delighted to welcome Jasmine Simon to Bushey Meads School, who delivered a very engaging and insightful game design workshop for our Year 8 students in Technology.
Jasmine is a Senior Lecturer in Games Art, Director of Outreach (Arts & Humanities) and a professional Illustrator and Games Artist at Brunel University.

During the workshop, the Year 8 students worked in small groups and developed their own game ideas. They chose a theme, created a main character, sketched a simple game layout and planned challenges, rules and goals to make their games fun and engaging. Jasmine showed the students how game designers think about visual style, gameplay and the player experience.
Throughout the workshop, students were fully focused and showed excellent attitude to the learning and behaviour. They demonstrated teh school’s key values of Respect, Responsibility and Relationships throughout the session.
The students had many opportunities to share ideas, listen to feedback and improve their work. The students presented their game concepts and Jasmine gave helpful advice on how to improve their ideas further.
It was a fantastic experience for our Year 8s, combining creativity, teamwork and problem-solving.
We are very grateful to Jasmine and Brunel University for the excellent collaboration and for inspiring our students and giving them a taste of the world of game design.
