Internationally renowned theatre company work with year 10 on Enrichment Day
Last week our year 10 GCSE dance and drama students were given the opportunity to work with ‘Frantic Assembly’ – well known for productions such as The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time and Lovesong.
Students took part in a four hour workshop full of Frantic Assembly’s trademark ideas for devising physical theatre.
We were impressed by the students’ attitudes and levels of creativity shown in this workshop and hopefully they will take these skills and apply them to both their dance choreography ideas and their ideas for devising theatre within drama.
One of the highlights of the workshop was seeing our dance and drama students collaborating on work together. Many of these students had never worked together before and surprised themselves with the results they produced. One student was even spoken to by the workshop leaders at the end to discuss possible future careers in the field of physical theatre. It’s always a wonderful feeling when professionals see our students and agree that they have the skills and the attitudes to forge out a successful career in the performing arts.
‘I think that they (Frantic Assembly) were really good at building on the students’ pieces there and then to get the whole group’s ideas on how to improve.’ Alfie 10W
‘I feel as though I have gained confidence whilst performing as a result of the enthusiastic encouragement they (Frantic Assembly) were giving us. Emily 10A
‘I enjoyed the partner work as we were able to create a piece of movement using different skills like lifting that we were both proud of. Sophie 10E.
We cannot wait to get Frantic Assembly back into Bushey Meads for more workshops.
On Enrichment Day, our Spanish class went on a trip to a Spanish school, Instituto Español Vicente Cañada Blanch, on Portobello Road. We had to be at Bushey Station by 9am, ready...
