It was a privilege to take some of our talented swimmers to the District Swim Gala on Wednesday 10th December.

This year we were able to field a complete team in the junior girls : N.Pointer (8), E.Ivory (7), G.Cole (7), S.Ollinson (7) as well as individual competitors in the junior boys L.Soteriou (8) and intermediate boys P.Soteriou (10).

All of the BMS swimmers swim competitively out of school for local clubs.
This year’s event was held at Habs girls school and the students represented the school, in multiple races, in what was a very competitive gala.

With races coming thick and fast it was an entertaining evening which really showcased the swimming talent in the Watford District.
We had some great performances with the standout being P.Soteriou who convincingly won all 3 of his events – 25m Individual medley, 50m Butterfly and 50m Freestyle. These successes also placed him second in the team event!! Especially impressive as he prefers longer distance races to the short sprint events!
In the junior boys L.Soteriou took podium places in all 3 of his events, 1st in 50m Freestyle, 2nd in 50m butterfly and 3rd in the 25m Individual medley. His efforts gave him 3rd place overall in the team event!
The junior girls finished in a very creditable 5th place and only 4 points off of 3rd, in their team competition, a great achievement considering the high standards, with several county swimmers in attendance.
We look forward to participating in the next event at the January gala. If there are any other competitive swimmers who might also like to compete in future events I look forward to hearing from them.
Well done to all of the BMS swimmers.
