On the Year 10 option subjects enrichment day, I had a really
lovely time learning in greater depth about the language that I
study. The first task was doing a Spanish or French role play with
partners or in small groups. After we did the speaking activity,
we went up to Mrs Charles or Mr Harrop and had to order food
like we would in a real-life restaurant. The food included
crepes (chocolate pancakes), small muffins called magdelenas in
Spanish or madeleines in French and croissants. This was really
enriching as we don’t often get the opportunity to try out French
and Spanish food or to eat in class! We then had to do a treasure
hunt on the topic of school and it was fun looking for clues around
the school which expanded our Spanish knowledge. We used our
phones to scan QR codes which gave us the clues we were looking
for. After this, we did a range of quizzes to check that we had
remembered everything we had done so far in the day. The last
activity was watching and answering questions on a short range of
films clips in Spanish and French which told really inspirational
stories and taught us more about Spanish and French culture. We
now know lots more about foreign language films. The language
day was really fun all round, I learnt a lot and my Spanish
knowledge has definitely widened.
