Spanish A Level study day at the British...
On Tuesday 5th December, the A Level Spanish class attended a student conference on the celebrated film director, Pedro Almodóvar, whose award-winning film, Volver is on the A Level specification. The conference served as an ideal introduction for considering prevalent themes and styles in Almodóvar’s films, and also provided rich learning opportunities on Spanish cinema and culture.
The study day was led by lecturers from Royal Holloway, University of London and the University of Bristol. Students attending the conference commented that it gave them “the opportunity to see Volver in a different light” and to appreciate additional contextual and cultural references.
The day was such a success that we are now planning Key stage 3 & 4 French and Spanish conferences to the BFI. Watch this space for further information!
