A key part of the role of the prefects is to complete a lunchtime duty within the school – this week saw the prefects completing their first set of official duties. Mr Varsani, deputy head prefects and myself worked together to compose the lunchtime duty rota for the prefects which allocates each prefect a duty once a week.

The locations which you will see prefects around the school site are: recycling in the main restaurant, the main restaurant queue, recycling in the side restaurant, H block corridor (car park entrance), H block corridor (LRC entrance), the pod queue and in the Sixth form study centre. Each duty has its own description, e.g. ensuring rubbish is going into the correct bins, talking to students, ensuring that the school rules and mantras are being stuck to, such as ‘ A mind to be kind’.

Additionally, each day a senior student leader checks that all students are completing their duty to ensure that all prefects are fulfilling their role by positively contributing to the school. Completing the duties is a great opportunity to also get students opinions and ideas for improvement within the school, so feel free to share any ideas you have with them!
