Year 9 took on a tricky topic today and smashed it! Students normally struggle with the concepts of bonding and allotropes of carbon. With the aid of marshmallows, jelly sweets and grapes they managed to model graphene and diamond. They could explain the structure in terms of the atoms and their covalent bonds. The class went on to embrace the challenge of working as a team to create a BuckyBall. What a great way to end the term.
