Expertise and Best Practice from the Science...

The second week of our Marking and Feedback Fortnight this term started on Monday of this week with two key leaders within the science faculty at BMS sharing their expertise and proven best practice. This was really helpful in encouraging all staff to continue to use some of the latest smart strategies for assessing students’ work and creating that dialogue cycle and momentum of constantly making progress.

Simple but effective ideas to create a clear marking cycle and the building in of key ‘marking moments’ within the planning of lessons and schemes of learning were shared. A very helpful orange whole class verbal feedback sheet was also showcased. On the sheet useful progress data is provided, as well as celebrating the top students in the class to create that healthy sense of positivity and competition. Key problem questions were highlighted from trend marking and tasks devised for students to complete to increase their learning and progress. It made for a great start to the week – well done Science!
