Year 7s Continue to Thrive
Assistant Headteacher Mr Mitman and Assistant Pastoral Manager Mrs Doran started the Year 7 main school assembly on Tuesday congratulating all the students on how well they have started their new year at Bushey Meads and for the positive impression they are making to all staff through their excellent conduct in and around the school. Their entrance to assembly, the way they were wearing their smart uniform with pride and the respect that they showed, listening in silence to Mrs Doran as she led the assembly, was very impressive.
The subject of the assembly tied in with the Theme of the Week this week being communication. Mrs Doran linked the theme to our 3 Rs of Respect, Responsibility and Relationships and explained how positive and good communication was central to maintaining those values. She also reminded all students that good communication involves as much good listening as talking, and the art of building good respectful relationships always involves being a good listener.
The assembly was packed full of inspiring moments, including a lovely picture of Mrs Doran’s dog to remind students that communication can also be through actions and our body language – not necessarily just words.
An amazing video of our Year 7 students’ first few weeks at Bushey Meads ended the assembly on a very positive note and reminded us all of how well they have all settled in and how much they are already achieving.
As parents and carers you must be very proud of your children and the positive way they have started their secondary school journey here at BMS – a huge thank you for your support!
