Welcoming Parents to BMS
To support our drive to further increase our engagement with parents, it was great to welcome so many parents from each year group in the school into our year group assemblies this week.
Parents gathered in the School Restaurant to enjoy a drink and some refreshments from 8.00 am and had the opportunity to talk to members of the Senior Leadership Team, the Pastoral Leaders as well as a number of staff from the Learning Support Faculty and several Character Development Coaches from their child’s year group.
They then went through to the Main Hall to watch the assembly alongside all the students. Ther images were taken from the back of the raked seating during the Year 7 assembly hosted by Assistant Headteacher Mr Mitman and Assistant Pastoral Manager Miss De Alwis.
On the important theme of Motivation, Mr Mitman and Miss De Alwis reminded the students that it always starts with belief but with motivation, action and effort success is always the outcome. Miss De Alwis asked the students to consider some hugely motivational role models and reflect on their own motivation this year as they get ready to ‘Step into Year 8 with Purpose’.

Our Year 7 cohort have achieved so much this year and are already stepping up into many different extracurricular clubs and activities and various key leadership roles across the school. So much has been achieved both in and out of the classroom and in the important end of year exams. It has been really encouraging to see and we wish them well as they end the year so positively and move onto the next stage of the learning journey at BMS.
