In the final few days before the start of the Summer holidays, whilst most students were winding down, around twenty of our then Year 12 students were preparing to be at their very best in readiness for their interviews for the highly prestigious roles of either Head Boy, Head Girl or Head Prefect.
The already submitted applications highlighted what a strong field of candidates we had and each applicant inspired us with their answers and vision. A panel of at least 3 senior staff had the tough decision to select the final successful candidates and it was no easy feat. In fact, the panel saw such great strengths in many of the candidates, that, as well as appointing for the three intended roles, some exciting new roles were created and news of these Executive Student Leaders will be shared soon!
It is with great pleasure and pride, I present to you our new top student leaders who will play in instrumental role in representing the student body in driving the school to embedding greatness:
Head Boy: Benjamin Garrett
I’m Ben and I am delighted to be the new head boy of Bushey Meads School, and I study Maths, Geography and Economics. You can generally find me around school, either in sixth form or in the LRC, and if you ever have any issues you wish to raise, feel free to come and speak to me or email me. I have been coming to Bushey Meads since Year 7, and as a result have witnessed the school blossom and develop into the school we see today. I am a fanatical Watford supporter, and regularly attend games all across the country, as well as being a passionate golf player. I hope to study Geography at university, and as a result, one of my main focuses on this school will be looking at small changes we can make to the environment, as well as focusing on helping to embed the ‘Everyone a Leader’ commitment into the school.
Head Girl: Georgina Bryant
I’m Georgina and have been at BMS since year 7, and I am really looking forward to the part I can play in improving your experiences here. I have seen the progress the school has made over the past few years and I hope to contribute to these positive changes in the school, focusing especially on environmental matters in and around the school. Like our Head Boy, Ben, I am also hoping to study Geography at university and I am studying Maths, Spanish, and Geography at A-level. I enjoy learning about politics and climate change and love having debates about controversial topics! I am excited to be working closely with other leadership roles and to see many of you around school and chat about any ideas or concerns you have about how things work in our school. Feel free to email me or find me in the Sixth Form centre, see you around!
Head Prefect: Georgia Sargent
Hi everyone I’m Georgia and I am very excited to be the Head Prefect this year. I have also been coming to the school since year 7 and have seen the school undergo many improvements, which I hope to continue this year along with all of the prefects. I am currently studying Biology, Psychology and Government and Politics. I support Arsenal and I have first-aid training, which includes mental health. My favourite subject is Psychology and my main focus this year is going to be on mental health and support for students, ensuring that our mantra ‘A Mind To be Kind’ is being stuck to. If you have any ideas for this please let me know as I’d love to get as many people involved as possible! You will see the prefects and myself doing duties at lunch times, this is a great opportunity to tell us of any improvements you want to see in the school. You will normally find me in the Sixth Form centre or the science corridor, but if you ever see me around feel free to come and talk to me or email me.

It was superb this week to receive such a glowing email message from the parents of one of our recently nominated Student of the Week at BMS. As you are no doubt aware, each week...
