As we move further into the school year, our Year 10 students have been busy preparing for an important milestone in their academic and personal development, Work Experience Week. This is an exciting opportunity for students to step outside the classroom and gain a real insight into the world of work.
Over the past few weeks, Year 10 has shown an impressive level of maturity and initiative. They have been proactive in communicating with Ms Patel, who is leading the Year 10 Work Experience programme, ensuring they have the guidance and support needed to secure placements that genuinely interest them.
In preparation for their placements, students have also been encouraged to research the companies or organisations they will be working with. This includes understanding what the organisation does, what to expect on a typical day, and the key skills or behaviours that are valued in that workplace. Doing this initial research not only helps them feel more confident when they arrive, but also allows them to make a strong first impression.
The benefits of participating in work experience are wide reaching. Students gain a clearer understanding of potential career paths, develop essential employability skills such as communication and teamwork, and build confidence in interacting with adults in professional settings. For many, it’s also an opportunity to discover new interests or strengths they hadn’t previously considered.
We are incredibly proud of how Year 10 are preparing for this next step and look forward to hearing all about their experiences. A huge thank you to Ms Patel for her ongoing support and guidance and well done to all our students for approaching this opportunity with such enthusiasm and professionalism.
