All the staff, students, parents and carers, extended family members and friends of BMS I know will join me in congratulating all the students and hard working and dedicated staff involved in the truly spectacular production of Matilda, this year’s school show, which took place this week. The singing, the dancing, the acting, the set design, the work of the back stage crew, the lighting and the sound all came together brilliantly to make for an extremely professional production and a definite highlight of this half term.
A matinee performance to 200 primary school children took place in the day on Tuesday and was followed by two spectacular evening performances on Tuesday and Wednesday. Not surprisngly so many parents and carers have contacted the school to show their real appreciation – here are just a few of their messages:
Hi Miss Joannou, I’ve just seen the Matilda production – absolutely blown away and so pleased that my daughter was able to be part of it. You should all be very very proud. The production quality was amazing, a very long way from what we’re used to from primary school. Thanks again.

Hi, I only ever send emails when I want to complain, but I’m making an exception. I’ve got the attention span of a goldfish and normally get bored incredibly easily, so I went tonight to see Matilda with trepidation. All I can say is I was shocked at how amazing the production was. Every aspect of it from the stage set to the dancing and everything in between was superb. You should be so proud. A massive well done!
Year 10 Parent
I have just got home from watching the BMS production of ‘Matilda’ and have to email you right away as I’m still buzzing! What a brilliant show. It was as if ‘Matilda’ was tailor-made for that particular group of students. You had a brilliant cast displaying such discipline throughout, first-rate choreography, a great set and sensational music from the live musicians. Clearly all the cast members enjoyed themselves immensely. It was an absolute joy to watch from start to finish. Please pass on my congratulations to all involved.

Good morning Miss Joannou, I just wanted to say again how impressed I was with Matilda! So much hard work and dedication by all the teachers and children! It really is a fantastic show and I can not wait to see it all again tonight! Please pass on my thanks to all the adults involved. From the set design, lighting, music, choreography and dramatic staging it really was an exceptionally high standard! I hope you all feel extremely proud of yourselves! The dance, drama, art, music and technical departments are a huge assets to Bushey Meads! Kind regards,

We attended Matilda last night. I just wanted to message you to say WOW! That was such an amazing show and it really surpassed all my expectations! The cast were all amazing – super high energy levels throughout and they were all so well cast. Matilda was superb as was Miss Trunchbull!! The dancers were so good too – amazing choreography and they flowed so well together. My daughter absolutely loved being part of the show so much so that I know she’ll be a bit flat tomorrow knowing that it’s all over. Thanks again to you and all the staff for making this possible for the students. Things like this really stay with them forever and it makes school a more positive experience for them all.

Dear Mr Turner, I just wanted to say that I thought the school’s production of ‘Matilda The Musical Jr’ was absolutely fantastic on Tuesday evening. I was completely blown away with the amount of talent and hard work there must have been for all involved. The performers, dancers, set design, choreography, tech crew, band etc.. all came together so well for this show and produced an outstanding performance!

A massive thank you must go to our Advanced Lead Teacher and Head of Maple House Miss Joannou who directed the whole production, as well as Musical Director Miss Way, and Assistant Directors Ms Forman and Mr Knowles, and Vocal Coach Miss Vail.
What was great about the production was how it also involved and empowered so many leaders from across the students in the cast to lead and direct aspects of the show.
It was incredible – so a huge well done indeed to all involved!
