Spotlight on Safeguarding
All the Main School Assemblies this week have been led by Deputy Headteacher Ms de Groot and Safeguarding Officer Ms Court – two key leaders at Bushey Meads who help the wider Safeguarding Team to support all students to stay safe, both in and out of school.
We all know that the world young people are growing up in is a very complex and at times challenging and ever-evolving world – in many ways much more complex than the ‘old days’. There is even more reason for students to think and behave smartly and safely – especially when on the internet and when using the many social media platforms available to them. They should also always report things to a trusted adult when they feel uncomfortable or unsafe. Ms Court’s Office is at the rear of F Block next to F3 and she is always available if students want to sek her advice.
In the assembly itself some really great advice was provided to students this week including to always:
Think before you post.
and
Don’t share any personal details or images when online.

When posting online, consider the key questions:
  1. Would I say this in person?
  2. Would I say it if a parent or teacher or police officer was looking over my shoulder?
  3. Could I upset someone?
The assembly also reminded all students to be well behaved in our local community and continue to be very good ambassadors for our school.
Above all, in all that you do – be kind and be sensible!
