Sparx Reader Magic!
It was great to see the really high engagement in Mrs Levy’s English class in the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) just before the half term break and see her class so focussed on their Sparx Reader tasks. Sparx Reader is an online reading platform that helps students to practise reading regularly, setting them up for success at secondary school and in life beyond.
Through the Sparx Reader platform students are offered fantastic books at their level from a wide range of texts. Students then complete their in-class and homework tasks online via a compatible device – pictured here using their own Chromebooks or those provided by the school. Our teachers can carefully monitor the tasks so they can motivate and support students to read more and develop that ongoing passion for reading and life-long learning.
What we are finding is that more students are reading, more students are improving their levels of literacy and more students are increasing their reading ages. All this progress is supporting learning across all other areas of the curriculum so we are excited by the long term benefits that Sparx Reader is bringing.
All in all it’s a kind of magic!
