Sew Delicious! Year 8 Whip Up Food-Inspired...

This term, our Year 8 students have brought colour, creativity, and a healthy dose of fun to the Textiles classroom with their food-themed cushion project. Students were tasked with creating a food themed cushion including a food-related pun, to promote healthy eating or cultural foods.

Throughout the project, students learned key techniques such as appliqué, using pattern pieces, printing techniques and decorative stitching. Many experimented with textures and fabrics to bring their chosen foods to life, adding personality and flair to every piece. Students have developed their independence when selecting materials, using the sewing machine and have had to think carefully about designing for a brief.

The final outcomes are fantastic and demonstrate the growing skills and creativity of our students here. I look forward to seeing what ideas the next round of students brings! Well done Year 8!
