New Sixth Formers at BMS!
Over 100 new Sixth Formers were in school this week as part of their journey to post 16 education on a First Lesson Transition Programme offered at Bushey Meads. Dressed in their smart business dress and enjoying a range of ‘first lessons’ across our extensive range of subjects on offer in our outstanding Sixth Form, they are pictured here at the start of the week in a special assembly led by Associate Leader and Head of Sixth Form Mr O’Kelly and Deputy Head of Sixth Form Mr Monks.
The Sixth Form experience is very different – with greater independent learning opportunities taking place in lessons and in study periods, the chance to step up and participate in student leadership opportunities and our embedded Kindness Matters Programme, and the opportunity to also take part in our enrichment programme and also gain an Extended Project Qualification to further support access to top university places and higher level apprenticeships beyond post 16 education.
Work experience and charity fundraising opportunities also form a key part of life in the Bushey Meads Sixth Form and are all part of an excellent package on offer at the school.
It was great to hear the feedback from students as they gained a very positive experience this week of what life will be like in September post GCSE results and successful enrolment to the BSM Sixth Form.
