Last Thursday, parents and carers of our Year 10 students were warmly welcomed to our Kick Into Year 10 evening, hosted by Miss Kent and Ms De Groot. The event was designed to give families a clearer understanding of what lies ahead as students begin their GCSE journey, and more importantly, how they can be supported at home.
Miss Kent and Ms De Groot led an informative and engaging session that outlined the structure of GCSEs, key dates, and tips for helping students manage the increased workload and expectations. From revision strategies to managing wellbeing, the evening offered practical guidance and opened up important conversations between school and home.
One of the key messages shared on the night was simple but powerful: the single most important thing parents can do to support their child’s success at GCSE level is to ensure they are in school every day.
There is a strong and undeniable link between high attendance and high achievement. Students who are in school consistently are not only more likely to keep up with the curriculum but also benefit from in-class discussions, teacher support, and a structured learning environment. In short, good attendance equals good results.
Thank you to all the families who attended and showed such strong commitment to supporting their child’s education. We look forward to working together throughout the year to ensure every student has the best possible start to their GCSEs.
