Last Friday the school was buzzing with activity for our first whole school enrichment day of the Year. These days are designed to support and enrich the already varied curriculum on offer at BMS allowing time away from the restrictions of having to move from lesson each hour to become truly immersed for the full day in one activity or topic. Year 7 and Year 9 had the opportunity to go offsite for the day. Year 8 went on a ‘Mission to Mars’ working with the maths and D&T departments, they were so proud to show off their inventions at the end of the day.
Y10 spent the day within one of their chosen option subjects. There were a range of activities on offer from sailing to drama workshops, a trip back in time and building their own working hand in PE. As Year 11 move into their GCSE year and their thoughts turn to next steps they had the talks on career and colleges from external speakers before having time to start putting together their CVs and personal statements.
Year 12 got to experience a day out in London taking in the wealth of culture in various museums across the capital. Just like Year 11, Year 13 are now focusing on moving forward and spend the day looking at university applications and writing personal statements.
It was a great day for all involved and there was a fantastic energy around the whole school. The next enrichment day will be Thursday 5th November, external speakers are booked and staff are busy planning the next round of inspiring, innovative activities.
