Exciting Times for Year 9 Students
This time of year is always a very exciting time for Year 9 students. This is the first time in their school career that they can choose their own subjects they want to study for the next two years throughout Key Stage 4. As a school we are extremely proud of our varied and eclectic curriculum offer – way more varied than most local schools and something that stands out as a particular USP for our school and what makes the school a popular choice for so many students.
There is literally something for everyone; often the challenge for students is what to choose from such a wide menu of subjects. Students choose their top 6 choices and then the timetable takes these choices into account when allocating their Key Stage 4 subjects. We can’t 100% guarantee everyone gets all their choices, but the vast majority of students do. This increases engagement and supports great progress towards examination results in Year 11.
I would like to thank Assistant Headteacher Mrs Greenwood for orgainsing the Year 9 Options Process and Year 9 Options Evening, all staff for making it such a success and of course all the supportive parents and carers who attended the evening last week. We hope you found it useful and supportive at this crucial time in your children’s lives.
There was a real buzz around the school and we hope this process sets up your children well for a great next stage in their learning journey.
