World Book Week at BMS
To coincide with World Book Day on Thursday here at Bushey Meads School we have been promoting World Book Week and all the main school assemblies have been led by our talented SEND Teacher and LRC Coordinator Mrs Wilson.
At the start of the assembly all students were asked to reflect on what type of reader they considered themselves to be and then think about any barriers to reading that could be removed to help them improve their literacy and overall attainment and progress across all curriculum areas. We all know that good literacy skills and having the ability to read fluently really help each and every person achieve success in all areas of life. Mrs Wilson encouraged everyone to think about their own passions and interests and to set a target of reading about those interests even more – using magazines, books, kindles, audio books and online platforms such as Sparx Reader.
This week our annual cake decoration competition took place with all entries judged throughout the day on Thursday of this week.
Mrs Wilson also invited all students to join the Carnegie Reading Club where students can read together some amazing texts and then discuss and vote for their favourite one. THose involved also have the opportunity to visit other schools to share their findings.
Keep reading – it makes a massive difference!
