In Mrs Ram’s lesson, Year 9 were assisted by our two year 12 work experience students’ Benigna and Leilani, to perform a flower dissection. This experience allowed the students to examine the parts of a flower and observe the parts under the microscope. Extra care and attention was needed during this process, as the flower was so delicate. Kishan and Alex in Year 9 really enjoyed the experience and obtained some fantastic results and skills. Our Year 12 students prepared and conducted the dissection beforehand with our lead technician Mrs Gali, and then assisted our students, giving them the skills needed to communicate effectively and organise experiments. Another fantastic science lesson, delving into the world of flowers and plants, linking to our photosynthesis topic.
