Pupil Premium Funding – Are You Eligible?

At Bushey Meads School, we are committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to achieve their full potential. To support this, the school receives additional funding called the Pupil Premium for students whose families meet certain criteria. This funding helps us provide extra resources, support, and opportunities.

What is Pupil Premium?
Pupil Premium is government funding allocated to schools based on the number of students registered for free school meals or who meet other eligibility criteria, such as being in care or having a parent in the armed forces. The funding helps us offer interventions such as extra tutoring, clubs, educational trips, and support services.

Are you eligible?
You may be eligible if you receive any of the following benefits:

  • Income Support

  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)

  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)

  • Universal Credit (with a household income below £7,400 per year after tax)

  • Child Tax Credit (with no Working Tax Credit and household income below £16,190)

  • Guaranteed Element of State Pension Credit

  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

If you think you might be eligible but have not already registered, please apply as soon as possible. It’s quick and confidential.

How to apply:
Please visit the Hertfordshire County Council website at HCC free school meals eligibility or contact the school office for assistance.

Registering for Pupil Premium does not affect any other benefits you may be receiving, and it can make a significant difference to the support your child receives at school.
