County League Athletics – Match 1
Date : Thursday 1st May 2025
On Thursday 1st May the BMS Junior and Senior athletics teams were competing in the first County League Athletics match of the season. The League consists of 6 fixtures against the other 25 schools in our region of the Herts County League. The first match saw the teams competing with Habs Boys and Girls, Grange Academy, St Georges, Rickmansworth and Abbots Hill schools. It was a tough first match but the students acquitted themselves well with some very positive individual performances.. Special mention to
who all won their respective events. Well done to all those who took part as we look forward to the remaining 5 matches.

Match 2 saw the school competing with Hemel Hempstead, Tring, Reach Free and Kings Langley Schools. There were some improved performances with special mention to the senior Boys team who scored an impressive 52 points finishing in 2nd place in their age category on the evening.

Comment : Despite a strong bowling and fielding performance the BMS team went down to defeat in the first match of the season. The Grange opening batsman scored an impressive 36 runs and this was the key difference between the 2 teams. Special mention to E Rumney, M Patel and E Ashton who all bowled well. Batting practice definitely needed in the next practice session on Monday.
PE kit
It is essential that students have the full correct PE kit for all lessons. This includes shinpads and black /yellow socks when participating in football lessons and also a pair of white sports socks for all other activities. Students will be reminded when activities change. Students not bringing the correct kit will instantly receive consequence points.
Girls should be wearing plain black shorts which are longer than the length of their PE shirt or hoody. Leggings should be black sports leggings and not see through. Black tracksuit bottoms are also permitted.
ALL jewellery should be removed prior to the start of the lesson, including earrings, and hair should be tied up.
